Since it seems the Ducks will likely finish bottom 5 this year, I figured we should have a thread for discussing the implications of where the f***s will finish in the standings. As well as what factors could affect where they finish.

Tonight was interesting as all bottom 5 teams earned 2 points sans the Ducks and the Hawks.

Hey Folks,

Want to clear some of the air here, Tank talk is not an issue, please talk tank to your heart’s content here, totally understand how critical it is for that Future Potential Top pick. The issue is posting in the GDT, like you want the team to lose or make posts that you are angry they are winning or won the game, or bashing the team for not tanking.

The main reason is, to respect your fellow members. The GDT is about discussion of the game on a live basis and then post game discussion and opinions. A lot of fans are not rooting for the team to lose, and everyone has their views and opinions towards tanking, and may not want to discuss tanking in the GDT

If you guys have any concerns, feel free to PM me or another mod, and would be happy to explain more in detail.

Thanks!

Leo

First time watching one of these important tank games for other teams…

I missed rooting for a team to score where it didn’t mean they were scoring on us

Yeah, it feels bad. I turned the TV off in anger when Jones scored the last one. The first game next year is going to feel so refreshing and full of hope!!!

these teams have actually had their fair share of getting out to leads but literally always blow them at some point (sometimes sooner than other times). very frustrating to watch

CBJ got out to that quick lead, and seems like they said WTF this isn’t how it’s supposed to go. After they gave up 3 in 5 minutes, and are behind and all is right with the world, suddenly they’re able to keep the puck out of the net again.

Hawks look like a terrible team that is actually trying pretty hard

Jackets have looked like a bad team that is giving 0 effort. Guys are literally stopping skating

If you look at the score card for columbus all their players are getting their 1st assists/1st goals lol

they literally throwing.

I wonder if chicago wants to beat pitt... and knock them out of playoffs.... they prob realize they are going to get bedard no matter where they land .

I also wonder if Toews’ career ending is motivating them in some way

We were still bad. Gibson just played out of his mind for what can only be explained as him trying to juice his trade value ahead of the deadline. He stole games the Ducks had no business winning.

It wasn't just Gibby, there was also Stolarz, Dostal, and OEE. A non-Duck poster had a thread to inquire about the Ducks and one of the questions was who were our best players. I listed only Gibby, Stolarz, and Dostal.

These are the guys we will always remember when we see those top 4 picks winning Cups on other teams

i really wish the jackets and hawks would just lose instead of teasing us

there's no chance either of those two teams get another point the rest of the season

I’m going out on the limb and saying since the last place team has been able to keep the 1st pick for 2 straight years, that there’s no way in hell it happens 3rd straight year. And also in that time. The second worse team, I believe has dropped each year. I’m going to say the 2nd to last or 3rd to last team picks bedard.
One person’s no way in hell is another person’s 25.5%.

To me, the difference is that the Ducks have an arguably stronger youth core in the midst of this rebuild.

Add Bedard to the mix of

Terry-McTavish-Bedard
???-Zegras-Strome
Bottom 6

Fowler-Drysdale
Mintyukov-Zellweger
Lacombe-???Defensive specialist

Dostal
???

Why would we put Terry on his off side?

Nesterenko/Tracey - McTavish - Bedard
Strome - Zegras - Terry
Gaucher-Lundy-Perreault
Hvidston - Groulx - Lopina/Wiebe

Defensive specialist not listed: LD/RD Hinds, RD Warren, RD Moore

Fowler-Drysdale
Minty-LaCombe
Hinds-Zellweger
Luneau/Helleson/Andersson

Goalies
Alexander is similar to Stolarz b/c they're the same height of 6'6.
I'm actually intrigued with Russian double overager Buteyets. He turned it on in the VHL this year in the regular season.
