Since it seems the Ducks will likely finish bottom 5 this year, I figured we should have a thread for discussing the implications of where the f***s will finish in the standings. As well as what factors could affect where they finish.

Tonight was interesting as all bottom 5 teams earned 2 points sans the Ducks and the Hawks.

Hey Folks,

Want to clear some of the air here, Tank talk is not an issue, please talk tank to your heart’s content here, totally understand how critical it is for that Future Potential Top pick. The issue is posting in the GDT, like you want the team to lose or make posts that you are angry they are winning or won the game, or bashing the team for not tanking.

The main reason is, to respect your fellow members. The GDT is about discussion of the game on a live basis and then post game discussion and opinions. A lot of fans are not rooting for the team to lose, and everyone has their views and opinions towards tanking, and may not want to discuss tanking in the GDT

If you guys have any concerns, feel free to PM me or another mod, and would be happy to explain more in detail.

Thanks!

Leo

so i think the Ducks would have to have a pts % of .500 to pass the Sharks now assuming SJ doesn't get any more points.

Verbeek better figure out how to communicate to Eakins that his letter of recommendation or AHL role will only be given if the tank is executed to the finish with no hiccups. We really need to start Olle Ek in goal immediately and feign goalie injuries like groin pulls that are undetectable.

They have 5 winnable games.
Obviously all winnable but Edmonton is still fighting for a higher playoff seed with LA nipping at their ass and vis versa. Colorado is looking to clinch the division while currently tied with Minnesota. Unless these teams decide they don't give a shit about seeding, they'll be looking to us for easy points. Vancouver and Arizona are the only teams that give me pause. Vancouver looks like they're still playing for pride so they should be able to win. Arizona is just a massive toss up.

I'm starting to feel confident that San Jose won't pass us again but 31st and 32nd are still up in the air.

So absurd, maybe something like Last 10-20 games of the season

W-L record determines draft position.

Reward teams for at least trying to win
Teams/fans will always find ways how to try to exploit the systems so there is no bulletproof one but I think the current is really solid. You can always mingle with the percentages tho, but if you look at who has moved up in the lottery, there's a lot of teams actually.

Despite the collective hype in all the ''top-4" fanbases, finishing last does not guarantee you Bedard. In fact, you're most likely picking 3rd OV.

If the ducks do get bedard, can we finally drop the silly "wear the dumbest number possible until you earned a real one" idea?

Can't imagine Bedard wants to skate around with 57 or whatever.

Wow San Jose got a point? That should almost guarantee us top three (and thus top 5).
Aha, they actually own the tiebreaker, I was convinced we do.
I wouldn't be surprised if SJS don't earn another point this season given their schedule (it's likely they do tho). We have 2 very winnable games left (esp with players coming back), but even if we win those two and SJS loses out, the Sharks would still be ahead due to the tiebreaker.

Interesting for sure.
