Miller does not fit this team. It's time to move him for a dependable RHD for QH. Hopefully with a pick. This team's need is glaring, and there's an asset that can get you that rare asset. Miller should feel the pressure to show the whole arena that he is worth the 8 million, but he's full on NYR Miller right now Pull the trigger.

It's going to be incredibly hard to move Miller now. His extension doesn't kick in until he's 30 and it's a an $8M cap hit for 7 years.

There are very few RD teams will swap for Miller's mammoth contract. Pulock from the Isles is the only one I can think of which might make some sense for both teams. That is if the Isles re-sign Mayfield.

Indeed, Pulock is the only one that makes sense at this stage. It's with him in mind that I wrote my rant. How disheartening to watch management piss away his trade value from 2 years ago when we all wanted to cash the chip at the tdl. Trader Jim just need to make it happen now.., otherwise, just let the tank happen naturally, few in Vancouver would mind a shot at the top end of this draft.

The standings for the entire league have a pleasing glow to them as of this moment.

This is the year to acquire extra picks with it being a deep draft.

Horvat should be able to net a late 1st from a contender & maybe even more depending on what he does this season.

I really thought Brock was due to have a good year with everything that happened last year in the rear view mirror but he has come out slow. Not sure what value he has maybe a 2nd or 2nd + 3rd or 2nd + B prospect

Maybe ship Schenn at the TDL for something & try to re-sign him in the off season.

Kuzmenko might be able to bring something in as well if he could start burying his changes.

IF mr aquilini actually let management go through with a proper rebuild this year could accelerate it a little bit with just how deep it is. Unfortunately no top end Dman but Bedard / Fantilli / Michkov is an excellent foundational piece and good start to the next core

Wings fan coming in peace. We're just starting to get out of the soul-crushing years, so I feel your pain at what might be a very bleak horizon.

While I agree it's too early to seriously consider a fire sale, and also agree with the previous evaluation of Pettersson being worth a top 10 pick plus a top center prospect...

... Considering team needs, would it be fair to instead deal him for a top ten pick plus one or more top defensive prospects? (Or something similar?)

you look at moving everyone but Pettersson first. Petey has been the most consistent, hardest working Canuck this season on top of being the most skilled player. Sure he may be the most valuable piece, but he's also young enough that 3-4 years from now he's still only 26-27 and can still be the leader for a long time for your new upcoming team

Agreed. Just wondering at the price tag options if it came to a total nuke from orbit scenario. Detroit happens to need a center and happens to have a glut of defensive prospects, but if that's not of interest then the hypothetical goes no further.

I'm pretty convinced that if the Canucks can get to about 5th worst in the league there's a very good chance the Canucks "win" the lottery. Blackhawks, Canadiens, and Coyotes are very brazenly tanking. Having Bedard play in a college hockey rink for the first several years of his career is not a good look. Blackhawks will be tied to the sexual assault coverup for several years. Canadiens already won. Rutherford has a lot of respect in the OBC too. With Bedard being a Canucks fan and hometown hero, there's a very good story for the NHL.

would have to be mutiple 1sts + top prospects. If you trade Petey, you're tradng anyone and everyone including Hughes and Demko. At that point you're just looking for the best quality offer. Obviously RHD since they cost a premium would be smarter to take on but if they cost the premium they normally do, you pass for picks instead and just draft RHD

I imagine Seider is off the table and the + to Edvinsson would be too high. So you're looking at Kasper + Buium + 2023 1st ++

I was thinking Buium + Wallinder + multiple firsts, but I think (if that degree of fire sale ever happened) that we're at least both in enough of the same ballpark that a conversation could continue.

This team as designed is completely useless; not good enough to tank but flawed in far too many ways to ultimately have any degree of success. I seriously questioned re-signing Miller (you might as well have sprinkled anthrax powder in the dressing room while you were at it) and have long advocated dealing Hughes (pillage the Devils), Boeser (ditto Minnesota), Demko (any Cali team), and yes, even Petey (highest bidder). Hopefully our Russian players won't get deported if Putin does something crazy and stupid but it would be just like Canucks luck for that to happen. I think building around Horvat is the best idea even though by the time this last major rebuild is done he will be an old man. Concentrate on players who you know want to play here; we have far too many who don't right now and it shows...
