Liverpool going for Gravenberch seems a little United-ish for me. Good player with a good skill set and high upside. But they already have players in his best position. Just seems like buying a player to buy them. Just seems like when the team desperately needed to replace Carrick and they bought Mata from Chelsea. Good player, but they already had Rooney and Kagawa(sort of) playing the 10 role.

It's pretty impressive, but I imagine as long as they keep playing the way they are, there will be a number of players who take a look at breaking through or revitalizing their career with that move.

I disagree a bit. Liverpool have tracked him for a bit and have been admirers of the player. They do need a midfielder. They have 2 players who are likely to play most of the matches, but beyond that? Thiago, Jones, and Elliott all have injury history, and likely could not shoulder the full load of matches. Mac Allister is the only player who has played more than 30 matches in the EPL in a season. Well, Elliott played in 32 two years ago, but still had managed minutes. Endo / Szoboszlai both have decent fitness records (though Szoboszlai does have a bit of injury history) and should play a lot, but there are minutes to be found.

Gakpo could play some midfield, but he's not really a midfielder.

For the cost, it's not really a United move. It is a bargain Liverpool move, but they likely see it as a project more than anything. He adds to the depth in their midfield, and if Mac Allister or Szoboszlai need time off, he subs in that position pretty well.

Honestly, if Jones was more fit, I would not be as bothered if they didn't get him. But Jones continues to have fitness concerns.

Can't believe me joking about Reguilon to United after Shaw's injury actually happened.

He can make nice plays in the final third on occasion but he sucks at defending and build-up play. At least he's well liked in the dressing room I guess.

Wish Spurs could actually sell some players instead of loaning them. They'll be in the same stupid situation next summer again.
