Good for canadian soccer. I hope he become a star and give more spotlight to that league.
For now I hope he just sticks in Europe. We have had Akio, Borges, Ongaro, and others leave for Europe and return to the CPL in quick succession.

I actually think they might have another suitor or two? Hard to believe but there's gotta be someone.

A Saudi club to be sure, but the player had a very public interview stating he wants to play for us and our President and his agent talk all the time. Even if there's another club, we don't need him, so state our terms and if they don't accept them walk away.

FBRef isn't great at evaluating defenders. He also split time between CB and LB which may make it look wonky. I consider him on a similar level as Adarabioyo who we were linked to earlier. I'd prefer him over Dier/Sanchez.

Feels like he would be the Davies successor. Left footed player who can play CB or LB. Doesn't need to be a starter but is reliable enough to bring on late and play the cup games. Also need cover at LB if Reguilon leaves and if a couple of CB's go. I don't think he'll be that expensive either. Not the marquee name you want to see at the end but a solid squad player.

Romano reporting that Spurs are going for Gallagher. When the squad is healthy, I can understand the logic of it, and obviously the FFP benefit, but with how he's started, I don't love it. We don't need Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia, Ugochukwu, and Gallagher for the season though. And when healthy, we'll have 3 players capable of #10 role, so Enzo shouldn't have to play further up because of it.

Seems it might be both. United wanted an option to end the loan in January, if Malacia an Shaw were to be fit and Cucurella not being available for cup ties didn't help his cause.
Just the Carabao Cup. I imagine, it came up in negotiations, it was a deal-breaker for each side, so they knew the deal was dead prior to Chelsea's game that Cucurella played in.

That's the one that counts in the Fall. FA Cup starts after New Year for the big clubs these days. United need bodies for those games.

Yeah, but he wouldn't be cup tied for FA? United would be terminating the loan anyway. I think it's clear that United just wants someone from now till January.

Seems like that's definitely going through given that our 4th CB (we play a back 3) is set to leave for Stuttgart. Leite-Knoche-Doekhi is a really good trio, but they can't play every match. So even with Bonucci coming in, I think we'll have to deputize guys at CB (Trimmel & Kral) when it's time to rotate.

Reports are United only wanted a short term loan, and Chelsea weren’t going to accept that anyways. If Chelsea were going to accept the short term rather than full year, I would have bought that playing him actually did f*** things up. But that isn’t the real world.

Regardless, it’s disappointing. Chelsea need to sell or loan Chalobah and Cucurella.

Otherwise, my guess is Maatsen isn’t a Chelsea player by end of window. Squad is two players too heavy atm.
