Transfer: 2023 Summer Transfer Window - Open Window Edition

Todd and his new regime think they’re the smartest dudes in the room. They might eventually pay off on some prospects they bought but some of it is going to be a loss
They overpaid on all of them, no doubt. Lavia is a lottery IMO, this isn't Camavinga we're talking about. Enzo does decent at looking decent while his play doesn't improve the team, and the Caicedo fee was hilariously high.

They bought 43 CBs, and none are half as good as the ones they lost (Christensen and Rüdiger), Disasi, Badiashile, etc... Even Fofana was a risky buy, and honestly, even when healthy, nowhere near good as the hype around him was.
I mean, if they really wanted young Frenchmen, Youssouf Fofana from Monaco is a better player than Lavia etc. at this point, and he's 24, not 40.

There's loads of young, talented players that are better than the ones Chelsea got that went for much smallers fees.
There're loads of proven veterans that could've been brought in for a fraction of the price and the club would've been much better of.

They had a decent core that was a very good Cup-side, which just needed polishing and smart 2-3 buys. Instead, they completely killed their CL-winning roster, sacked their manager and went into a spending spree over some talented, but mostly very young and unproven footballers.

My prediction still stands, they won't make top-5 this season, and honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if they don't make Europe at all.

Leverkusen have come to terms with Nathan Tella, but their 18M euro offer has been rejected by Southampton. With Bild reporting they are demanding a sum over 20M.

Is he any good?

Elsewhere:

- Bayern moves closer to Israeli U21 keeper Daniel Peretz and are reported to be lining Lutsharel Geertruida up as a replacement for Pavard.
- Stuttgart are in love with Frankfurt's Kristijan Jakic, and considering Hoffenheim's Angelo Stiller.
- Jesper Lindström is being linked to Napoli.
- Lukebakio to Burnley seems quite likely, while Serdar will be leaving Hertha for Hellas Verona.

Kicker also had a weird rumor about Juranovic being happy at Union, but also unhappy with his playing time...with the previous reports of Trimmel not being thrilled with sharing the job, Gosens arrival on the left meaning Juranovic won't be splitting his time between the left and right any more, and us not having brought another CB in;

I wonder if we finally see Trimmel get some games as a RCB? Feel like he could be a really interesting option at that spot with his distribution...especially with the freedom Fischer gives our outside CBs to push up.

Or maybe we see some back 4 formations to accommodate all of the attackers that we've brought in? That would explain why we didn't add a CB and brought in so much attacking depth that we're already looking for a loan move for one of the younger guys we added (Kaufmann), even with Jordan looking set to leave for Gladbach.

@Evilo 1.FC Union trying to loan in Ismaël Gharbi?

We've had a lot of injuries in the midfield...Khedira, Tousart, Haberer, & Schäfer all missed the opener...or is he an attacking midfielder only?

Sounds like United is going to loan or sell Greenwood. Official statement states he's not coming back into the team.

Yes, as discussed in the EPL season thread. I'm sure a collective sigh of relief was heard from United fans after this sentence:

It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford

He'd fit in perfectly in the Saudi league. Come on Saudis, bid 30 million for him!

Saw something about Marcos Alonso could be leaving Barça. I would assume it'd be to Saudi Arabia, but I didn't a possible destination. That might free up money to sign Fresneda after all, whom Deco is apparently a big fan of.

Also, saw rumors again that Arsenal were looking at Martin Baturina. They should definitely move for him if that is the case.

And now I'm seeing MD reporter saying Fresneda has been ruled out. Can't wait 'til the transfer season is over.

- Arsenal, Spurs, and LFC going after a fake name EA FIFA-generated player Perr Shuurs from Torino.

- Inter win the Pavard fight lol.

- Kudus might be pulling a Caciedo and forcing a move to one of the London clubs. No bid has come in from any London club though.

- More Spanish reports about Fati to Arsenal.

- Fulham supposedly offering a 45 million bid for Balogun to replace Mitrovic.

- Doku to Man City to replace Mahrez.

- Al Whatever FC trying to buy de Paul.

- Zapata going from Atalanta to Roma.

- CP is close to buying Dean Henderson.

- AS Monaco putting in a bid for Tosin Adarabioyo.

- Gravenberch remains at Bayern even though Man United and LFC desperately want him.

I’m still hoping we go for him, but I think we’re out as Cancelo is almost done. Wouldn’t want him to go to Porto though and that is surprising considering they have Joao Mario.
For as good as Ivan could be, Cancelo is the product and the superior choice considering the Joao deal is a loan move with supposedly an option to buy in the summer due to Barca's financial problems. Not bad at all of getting a player of his calibre for that.
Digne to Nice.
Rumour is that Aston Villa is going after Tavares to replace him. Some reports say that Forest was offering 30 million for him, but Nuno declined Nottingham.

West Ham really just on one this window.

I mean, there is a reason why Arsenal got rid of him and did not fancy him as a backup option...

I saw this banter the other day, they never walked alone all the way to Chelsea lol.

That’s a recycled old name for LFC at least. Don’t think they are in there

Last time I checked West Ham was in London.

I would stay away from Fulham right now. I think they are going to have a really tough time replacing last season. Balogun probably starts for them though so would have hard to say no
- AS Monaco putting in a bid for Tosin Adarabioyo.
Really surprised English clubs aren’t interested here. I’d certainly take him at LFC over Matip
- Gravenberch remains at Bayern even though Man United and LFC desperately want him.
LFC definitely are in but wouldn’t say they are desperate; maybe they should be and Klopp obviously likes the player, but I do not think he is the right answer at all.

I liked this one better

Winger, AM. Young developing.

Now the revisionism goes as far as saying Fofana wasn't as good as the hype even though the guy dominated the EPL in his first season.

Anyway Pavard to Inter. More his level.

Also, I just realised that the Tammy Abraham experiment might be over for Mourinho. In all the Serie A matches I watched in the past three years, he was completely and utterly useless in most of them.

Last time I checked West Ham was in London.
So are Crystal Palace, Spurs, and AFC Wimbledon. If he declined Brighton in personal terms, he might be looking for European football and only one club as of now can offer that. Though Chelsea can overpay everyone to the point of them getting social security.

Strong rumors that the signing of Endo at LFC was indeed Caicedo alternative and he will be the first choice DM.
What LFC are thinking? I am not sure.

Actually, depending on Cancelo's agree wage, any potential loan fee and a potential wage for Fresneda, you might actually be able to get Fresneda for less of an outlay.

They better be right because going the cheap route here will be received very poorly if they’re wrong
They can only sell me on that (I wouldn’t like it but I could at least get the logic) if they are spending big on either a LCB or RB; depending what they are trying to do with the shape. If it’s just Endo and then it’s like a utility guy and/or they have to wait until January for Andre, they should have just kept Fabinho.

My criticism of the Endo signing has always been that’s it’s like eating mustard before the hot dog is ready. You got the condiment before you got lunch. They could have done Endo WITH any of the other options that they’ve done and it’s a cromulent decision, but by himself? I really don’t see it.
