Transfer: 2023 Summer Transfer Window - Open Window Edition

They may be just as deluded as the Chelsea supporters on this board to think they’re actually signing with the mutual goal of playing for Chelsea, I don’t know.
They and we don't have that delusion. Young players really don't care if they break through here or someone else, they care about being developed as pros, and there is a good success rate here.

It’s all about the consistency of it.

If someone dramatically outperforms xG in one season, there’s a chance it’s a hot streak.

If they do it consistently, they’re a world class finisher. Kane also consistently outdoes xG.

I’m not making any comment here on Wahi, just observing on how outperforming xG can cut both ways
Yes, hence why I said it's two years in a row.
Guy has 30+ goals under 20 in Ligue 1. Almost unheard of.

When you say “here”, I assume you mean whatever club it is they’re being shunted to?

I’m not so sure about the delusion part. All summer you guys were penciling in Hall, meanwhile they bought like €300M in players in his original midfield position and then sold him off. My money is we go through the same song and dance next summer Ogochukwu. And I definitely think a lot of this kids absolutely have the thought and intention to play at Chelsea when they sign.

If you players sign with Chelsea, they know there is a good chance they will make it as a professional.

Yes, we think selling Hall is a mistake, but many of us have a long list of young players we'd be fine selling. And no, there is a big difference between Hall and any of the CMs, Hall can play LB and CM, Chilwell gets hurt a decent amount of time and Cucurella sucks. He had a path to minutes here, but similar to Livramento, he wanted a path to starter minutes.

We've developed and purchased to sell as a way to generate revenue for years, so not sure why you think we are deluded to that strategy.

It’s pretty crazy to ascribe development to Chelsea when it’s just a conveyor belt to a dozen other clubs just because Chelsea’s name is on the paycheck. Again, I highly doubt your logic being shared by the kids they’re signing. Chelsea isn’t a cut above special, there’s a hundred other clubs that can develop players.

That path to minutes was behind a half dozen £50M players. You and I disagree on that pathway, and clearly so did he. There’s no guarantee he’s a nailed on starter at Newcastle either.

Because we have to hear about all the spots you have to keep open for these guys every year.

Criticize the process or fees all you want, but it would be nice if pundits wouldn't blatantly lie like this. Chelsea was linked with both way before Liverpool ever was, but that doesn't fit the narrative.

I listen to Talksport pretty much daily (though I know what to buy into and what not) and Danny Murphy and somebody else were saying how it must be the 8 year contracts or London otherwise they wouldn't have signed for Chelsea. I agree with London and I think some of these are more nuanced (IE Caicedo was already set on going to Chelsea), but I think that viewpoint is really dated at this point.

This. There was a reason why Kruse & Rafael shat on their xG for their entire careers.

The 30-year-old joined the Blues from Ajax in the summer of 2020 and has provided several memorable moments at Stamford Bridge in addition to helping the side win the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup during his time in London.

In total, Ziyech has made 107 appearances for the Blues and scored 14 goals, one of which came in the Super Cup against Villarreal in Belfast at the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

We wish Hakim well for his season ahead in Turkey.
