I think this was the only way they could handle it, in order to cover the legal bases for the club. Right now, they could've faced a court case from his end for wrongful termination of a contract or something.
So what? If United actually had any moral backbone they would have terminated the contract and forced Greenwood into making a decision on pursuing legal options. Even if Greenwood is stupid enough to sue the club for wrongful termination related to this matter, the club would at worst be paying a marginally higher amount (wages plus legal fees) on the off-chance the courts ruled in his favor.

And let's be reality, United have handled this much better than Arsenal did with Partay.
Rather than focus on Greenwood's crime (let's call it what it is, even if the charges were dropped because the girlfriend wouldn't testify), you couldn't help but defend United by making a comparison to Partey/Arsenal, which has a different set of circumstances. Greenwood was caught on tape and only escaped criminal charges because his victim girlfriend wouldn't comply, whereas Partey has been accused and complied with investigations based on circumstantial evidence.

Chelsea fans: "You guys just don't understand the FFP rules. If we sell homegrown players or players with highly amortized contracts for big fees, then we can offset our $1B spending spree and still be in compliance with FFP for this year."

Also Chelsea fans: "Wtf, why are we selling all of our homegrown players?"

I've never read anything as chickenshit as Jussi trying to place the blame on both Greenwood and his victim a page or two back. All this over a soccer club in a country far, far away.

The victim shared text messaged from him were he admitted to raping her. Did Arsenal suspend him? Or conduct an internal investigation?

I read that United would owe Greenwood £10+ million if they cut him now. Considering the trash us United fans call the owners, I don't see them paying that.

Which is circumstantial evidence, exactly as I wrote. For your reference, here's the definition: pointing indirectly toward someone's guilt but not conclusively proving it.

There's a difference between victim shared text messages / snapchat DMs and a conclusive audio recording. Regardless, it tells a lot that you're trying to justify United's actions with respect to Greenwood's crime by pointing fingers in another direction.

United have continued to pay Greenwood while he's been suspended. So they would either (1) continue to pay him his wage, or (2) terminate his contract, force Greenwood to file suit (would be stupid to bring anything related to this matter to court), and at worst pay him the same wages via a settlement/court decision (marginally more cost with legal fees).

This isn't the defense you think it is.

I'm fine selling a few of our younger players, depending on the few, Hall I'd prefer to keep though. Gallagher makes sense with all the CMs we have and he'd probably always just be bench/rotation quality anyway. Chalobah is another that can get a decent fee. CHO will get a small fee, but clear wages. Depending on our ST plans, I wouldn't be opposed to Broja either.

The EPL spending more than the BuLi + Ligue 1 + Seria A + La Liga combined.

Hopefully that's enough for them to stop the Saudi's from ruining football...
Don't confuse easy riches like oil money compared to establishing a savvy business model. It isn't EPL's fault that BuLi can't get a good enough telly deal around the world to gather funds to spend on players. BuLi in the states is behind a pay wall and is considered an afterthought for ESPN to promote.

Yep. Gallagher is next, then CHO, then Colwill

Oh wait, Ornstein’s tweet indicates this is player driven.

Player probably doesn’t push for it if we don’t buy Lavia + utilize him more in preseason, but we played Cucurella and Andrey a lot more.

So guessing Poch isn’t a huge fan? He should be.

Given that we have Enzo and Chilwell as starters in his best positions on the field, and he’s a NCFC fan, can understand the player’s interest in the move.

Sigh, regardless. I liked him a lot

It's weird, they apparently had an extension lined up before the Palace loan, but I also understand him wanting the move and he grew up a Newcastle fan. Poch also didn't seem to value him in pre-season.

Right. Which is why there was no reason to prioritize this
Is it prioritized? I do know some clubs sniffed around him in January. I think it might be let’s get someone on board who can help us before we get screwed yet again with a big offer that fails. Stuttgart are also not going to take LFC to the cleaners, though price won’t be nothing. His wages will likely be pretty slim.

Yeah it’s prioritized. Deal is going to be done tomorrow. How is that not prioritized? It’s getting done before anything else
