Run on tight ends to start the 2nd. Surprised Detroit went laPorta over Mayer, but all of their picks have been kind of head scratching so far (IMO anyway).

Raiders swooped in to grab Mayer pretty quick after Detroit passed on him.

Updating our big board:

8. Drew Sanders, LB, Arkansas (25%)
8. Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia (25%)
11. Brian Branch, S, Alabama (33%)
15. TrentON Simpson, LB, Clemson (40%)
24. Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee (50%)
25. Cody Mauch, OL, North Dakota State (33%)
25. O'Cyrus Torrence, G, Florida (33%)
27. John Schmitz, C, Minnesota (33%)
29. Luke Musgrave, TE, Oregon State (43%)
30. Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina (50%)
31. Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah (40%) - Bills pick at #25

32. Blake Freeland, OT, BYU (33%)
34. Steve Avila, G, TCU (50%)
34. Matthew Bergeron, OT, Syracuse (50%)
34. Dawand Jones, OL, Ohio State (50%)
38. Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin (25%)
40. Luke Wylper, C, Ohio State (50%)
40. Joe Tipman, C, Wisconsin (50%)
42. Cedric Tillman, WR, Tennessee (40%)
42. Tucker Kraft, TE, South Dakota State (40%)
47. Tyler Scott, WR, Cincinnati (50%)
48. Jaelyn Duncan, OT, Maryland (50%)
49. Gervon Dexter, DT, Florida (25%)
50. AT Perry, WR, Wake Forest (0%)

What position are we hoping for here? I think it’s irrational to think a tackle slides to 59. Sanders and Simpson are likely gone too. Keeanu Benton? I don’t see any other IDLs that make sense. IOL maybe?

LB, DT, and maybe OL if someone falls are where I'd be looking

I knew Avila would be the first true IOL drafted...
He was my favorite!

Laporta isn't a huge reach IMO. Probably TE4 or TE5 in what's an insanely deep class.

I'd personally have taken Mayer though, even if you're not focused on his blocking ability.

I must admit i kinda wanted Detroit to get Washington. Him in that scheme, with their OL would have been disgusting.

What I love about the TE class is there's 6 guys that all do different things well. Every team can have a different ranking order

Dexter makes sense as an IDL too, and it would be the right value for him.

As you said, probably a safe assumption that Sanders and Simpson are both gone.

I'd say unless someone unexpectedly slides, go for the line -- either side.

You guys needed to listen to me re Mingo. I said it enough times!
Everyone's favorite 4th round mock pick always inevitably goes in the 2nd

Love the pick for Bryce

Dexter is such a fascinating player that I'll be generally excited and also terrified about if we pick  Ultimate boom/bust DL

I dunno. I see LaPorta as a poor man's Kincaid, I don't see what he does well that one of the other "big" TEs don't.
I think he's a better pure receiver than Mayer, Washington, and Kraft. I would've taken Musgrave over him, personally, but he's got injury concerns.

This sounds right, and you’re right, Dexter would also make sense.
