Tippman went to the Jets.

Cons that stick out:
- This was TE heavy draft. So, would it have been that much of a downgrade to grab one on day 2? Compared to other positions in the draft that aren't nearly as deep. Maybe it was, especially if this kid is worth the 1st round grade.

- Was it really a need? If he's running routes out of the slot, then yes. But still, it's a tight end and we just locked ours up last year and wouldn't move on for another two years.

- Did we really need to move up and burn an asset? Why not let him come to you, then, if he doesn't then simply trade back.
Not trying to be argumentative here. These are just of my thoughts on the matter.

Con1: I agree, but if the Bills front office were that concerned with Kincaid being drafted before their next pick then Beane made the right call. In the end, who was right and who was wrong will be determined by the record books - context be damned.

Con2: How many words have been wasted on the ghosts of OBJ and DeAndre Hopkins again? I think we can all agree this offense needed an improvement in a bad way; it needed to be done on the cheap; and, it couldn't be done by bringing in a player (or players) who skillset(s) mirrored what we have already. This move was absolutely a necessity in that respect.

Con3: It's a fourth-round pick. In the NHL, where you can hide these guys in Europe or the AHL, and the draft isn't nearly as linear, yeah, it makes sense to load up on as many late-round picks as you can. It affords GMs more kicks at the proverbial can. But in the NFL, where players that don't make the roster get poached on the regular, one could make the argument that it makes more sense to move up in rounds 1 and 2. Particularly, when you start to consider the 5th-year option that goes along with 1st-round draft selections.

Other1: The fact that we have Dawson Knox under contract for another 3-4 years shouldn't play any more of a role in Beane's decision-making process re: tight-end prospects than Diggs' contract and prospective wide-receivers.

Other2: I haven't done the math on it, but the skillsets and contributions of tight-ends around the league have progressed well beyond their paygrade. And as cover-2 continues to handicap even the best receivers, and as the wide-receivers' agents gradually price their clients out of championships the way Tyreek's did, the pendulum will shift if it hasn't already.

This has got JOK vibes all over again. He falls by some miracle... And of course Beane goes EDGE.

He can't pass on Sanders, can he? At this point I'd even be tempted to trade up.

Charbonnet?

With Walker there????

Don't get that pick at all for the Hawks.
Two different kind of picks at least. Charb more the kind I think traditionally for the Seahawks

Maybe we'll luck out and Beane thinks Sanders is an EDGE
