Habs lost to Vancouver. Goaltending is bottom 5. They could easily finish bottom 5.

Possible but not probable at this point. They have started the season well and they will avoid those 5+ game loosing streaks. Loosing to the Canucks doesn't reveal their faith for the entire season.

Bookmark it... bottom 6-12 range. 5th is possible but if I had to pick one or two spots... I'll say 7th or 8th. Lets hope it's lucky #7 ;).

Just like it's hard to pass teams above you, it's difficult to pass teams below you. We will slip a bit though IMO

Don't hold your breath if you are looking for multiple 8 games loosing streaks this year. But rest assured, we will have a pick from the 6-12 range.

Things are going to tighten up and teams below us are going to catch us. It's just not sure shot bottom 5 pick like so many fans got attached to heading into the season

Bottom 6-12 range. I seen this a mile away this summer
I’d say bottom3-8.

Ducks, Blackhawks, Blue Jackets, Coyotes are likely to finish bottom 5. Sharks are in that mix too. Habs will be in the cluster ahead of them.

Said it before and calling it now... back to back seasons where dead last wins the lottery. I think someone from 3-8 range wins the lottery this year. Possibly both lotteries. Let the balls fall where they fall is what I say

Healthy Florida seems to be on their way out of the lottery. Would be nice if their pick were also in the lottery...

I'd do that bet if we knew each other better. $200 for me if I loose and $500 for you if you loose?

What is the fair range? You are picking bottom 5 and I take 6-10? Nobody wins if they have 11+?

Pre lottery?
If we go for real, how bout we go, post-lottery, $20 for you to pay if they go 1-5, or 11-12, and $50 for me to pay if they go 6-10.

Yeah I think so too.

Injuries and a harder schedule.

Underlying numbers show this team is not good and should be bottom 7 sooner than later.

Yeah.... the unfortunate thing is that the underlining numbers has FLA as a playoff team I think... but hopefully that one doesn't come true!

They are going to be in tough. I can't see them passing Tampa, so they will need to grab a wildcard and beat out both DET and NYR plus any other teams that make a late push (WAS?)

f***ing Martin Jones the scrub. 3 goals on 7 shots.

Edit: Make it 4 on 8 shots. Should be crime starting him.
An otherwise bad night all around for the tank saved by a Florida loss (and red wing and blues wins).

If we're not at least a couple games under .500 by the new year this tank season is cursed.

Until we win the lottery from the 11th spot.
Imagine Hughes trades Monahan, Edmundson, and Anderson. Gets three 1sts, two of which are in 2023, and then trades them along with Habs current 1sts for a top 5 pick haha. That'd be some video game stuff

I wanted to win tonight's game after last night's blunder fest. So glad we did. Still lots of time to tank.

Our next game is the one-third mark of the season, so there's still two-thirds left to play. And, a ton more road games.

Boys get 3 days off now. Then play 4 of the next 5 at home. The one road game is in Ottawa, so really 5 home games.

LAK - average team with scoring depth, and poor goaltending, a slightly better version of Vancouver. Danault.

Calgary: 50/50. Another average western team. Toffoli.

At Ott: they're crap, but generally play us well.

ANA: they're just crap.

TBL: definitely losing this one. This starts the "tough" portion of our season.

Yeah the real hard stretch of games starts december 17th and it seems like it’s not ending until the end of the season lol

So based on P% in order to drop into the bottom-10 we would have to drop down to a P% of less then 0.454, to get bottom-8 that would require <0.424, bottom-6 would be <0.365, and bottom-5 would be <0.323.

For reference this year we are 0.538, last year + this year combined we are 0.384 but that includes the 0.256 we were under Ducharme. MSL was at 0.432 last year and is a combined 0.476. So honestly tough schedule or not it's going to be tough to fall too far down the standings.

I hope they lend Slafkovsky for the world juniors. The way he's been playing, it would be good for the tank.

Honestly it's fun that they are battling for a playoff spot and it's great experience... hopefully it continues. Once they are realistically out of it I think things will change a bit. My prediction is they will ultimately wind up in the 2nd last pack of teams and pick in the 7-12 range... but what do I know, they have exceeding expectations so far!

As of right now, we would be drafting 13th (MTL) and 14th (FLA).

Still a long way to go, obviously.

I don't like post lottery cause luck comes into play and it would tarnish my excitement if they win the lottery. I also rather make the 11+ range neutral.
