Literally any other OF on the roster catches that ball, he wasn’t even looking in the right direction! Yoshida certainly made it look like it wasn’t an easy play. Duvall and Verdugo DEFINITELY make that play.

I wouldn’t call Duran unathletic because it would be insane to call somebody in the 96th percentile of running with that kind of explosion off the bag and the 99th percentile in reaction time unathletic. Duran also headed out so much better than Yoshida does in the field. They are not even remotely comparable

Yoshida’s OPS is .812, I’m totally cool with that. And aren’t you a batting average guy anyway?

Max Muncey's double in the 3rd inning today was virtually identical to the ball hit to Yoshida that he "misplayed". Duvall misplayed it with equal dexterity.

Save it for what? It's August 27th and time is running out. They're not preserving arms for a post-season run, they need to get their first.

Short of being down 12 after one inning it's time to treat every game as a must-win cause they basically are.

You cannot treat every game as a must win for 30 straight games.

Pitcher's arms are not mechanical yet.

I would not let a guy who has progressively got worse and worse throughout the season to the point he's been terrible stay in long enough to put a game out of reach.

Besides, you don't have to look at it as 30 games. You can treat 7 straight games as must wins while you try to get back into a playoff spot and hope/know a few of them won't exactly high-stress outings because either the offense goes off or a starter pitches a gem.

After Casas HR thought he might have gone to the pen. But there were still 3 innings to go and who was available at that point? They used 5 relievers yesterday.

thats why most of redsox nation including the players wanted the sox to add a starter.at the deadline

Easier said than done.

Got higher off the wall than the one Yoshida had iirc.

Are we going to make the argument they’re equal defenders?

Astros warming up today for Fenway tomorrow by putting up 25 hits, 17 runs on Tigers.

Nope.

Just talking about the one play that anyone could have made.
Just rewatched both:

1) Muncy’s was higher off the wall to the point Duvall had to leap for it and Duvall is much taller than yoshida

2) much tougher play off a left handed bat than a right handed bat anyway due to the slice on the ball. Yoshida’s hit the wall at about shoulder height for him, which is about 1 foot 6 inches ;)

People won’t like hearing it. But facts don’t care about your feelings.
It's amazing the mental gymnastics the Sox apologists do to excuse away a blunder this f***ing large. The dude is an MVP caliber player every year. They used him to dump the salary of the turd that was David Price. They took back pennies on the dollar just to save themselves a few bucks. It's absurd the bullshit we hear about why they "had" to do it.

What’s the goal of the post Lonnie? To do the same ring around the Rosie that’s been done for 1000 days?
