Nah - it's like the Bruins and Canadiens. No matter how bad one team is ( or even both teams ) the rivalry definitely lives on.....at least for the older fans that watched the rivalry play out in previous seasons.

I disagree and I'm pretty sure the majority of Red Sox fans in our age range would agree with me. How do you feel about the rivalries with the Canadiens or Lakers ????

Absolutely. The Sox should beat this mess of a Yankees team.
And this ‘balanced schedule’ is most definitely a rivalry killer too.

He might legit be my favorite non-Red Sox player in MLB right now.
Devers leads the team in slugging, OPS and 2nd in WAR (despite his bad defense). Which is why I never cared about his defense to begin with. If the GM is competent he will start implementing Devers at DH and find someone who can play 3rd base. Year one of this contract has been a success.
By the way, for Verdugo to be at a 3.1 WAR with very little power tells you he's played a mean RF this year. It doesn't seem like the organization is that fond of him but I would be perfectly fine with him in RF for a few more years. He's a decent enough complimentary piece. I just don't think the power will ever be there.

Well I am really just happy that Devers is producing like he normally does so I don't have to hear about how the Red Sox shouldn't have signed him and that they shouldn't give out contracts like that. I was just stunned to see Verdugo with a 3.1 WAR. I don't reference that stat a lot but it stood out.

For the record, I'm not opposed to the Red Sox handing out huge contracts.
I like Raffy.
I'm glad he's on the Red Sox.
He's not the guy they should have signed to that kind of deal.
They guaranteed $315 million to a .280/.350/520/.870 guy who's a bad defender and should probably be moved to DH in the near future. The idea of paying a DH $30+ million/year is ridiculous and a poor piece of business, in my opinion.

Sure.
For instance, I hope they sign Casas to a long-term extension this winter. I wouldn't give him $300 million, but I wouldn't have an issue going 10 years with him.
