The only direction they deserve criticism for is not making moves or only making small moves that have no benefit to the team. No trades like selling Vazquez while adding players like Hosmer and Pham. Want to sell on Paxton and Duvall? That's fine. Want to sell Paxton but add a player with team control like Edman who gives you defense and speed that they need? Good. If they want to just buy and make a playoff push with new additions and the arms returning, that's great too. Just do something that will help either make the team better now or can benefit them long term.

DeJong to the Jays

They pivoted to middle infielders hard after Bichette destroyed his knee.

Hopefully this will satisfy the Cardinals and keep us from doing something dumb like giving up assets for Tommy Edman.

Lots of trades happening. But two teams are missing. Red Sox and Phillies. Seems like a match-up to me. At least for Duvall, maybe more.

The Mets just got Gilbert AND Clifford for Verlander. That’s absurd. What a deal.

Now keep them. You have your Kelenic and PCA prospects back
For as much of a disaster as this season has been for Cohen and the Mets, they were able to turn those two mega contracts into 2 top-100 (top-70 at that) prospects and got another good hand out of it.

I feel like some owners would buckle down and ride it out with the money they spent, but Cohen knows when it's time to cut bait on an asset and move forward. I'm not sure Peter Seidler in San Diego is getting the same message, because so far the Padres are going the other direction and trying to salvage their garbage season by adding Choi and Hill rather than dealing Soto off for futures.

I would have liked my yearly Rich Hill fix. Not interested in overpaying for a E-Rod or anyone else. Sox have enough middling or bottom end SP as is.

Bloom being "creative" is a little obscure. It could mean that he's trying to initiate a multi team trade.

Sox management are in a tough spot (of their own making, in fairness). They're within reach of that WC. Buying would be foolish, but selling would deflate morale among your long-term core (Devers, etc.) and could possibly discourage free agents from signing here.

Bloom is in a position where all he really can do is make some lateral moves like flipping Paxton and/or Verdugo for guys who are moderate downgrades but with a couple years of team control left, and then they'll spin it like how Story and Sale are coming back as their real deadline acquisitions or whatever. Whatever they end up doing I hope it's with the long-term sustainability of the organization in mind.
