So your main guy comes out and says "we need help" and all signs point to getting a DFAd Kolten Wong and possibly trading Paxton. They should have sold if this is the case. Chaim Bloom is scheduled for a presser at 6:15

Can't say that I am not disappointed. But at least they didn't buy either. And this year, unlike last, they could afford to do it. They stayed under the threshold and will be able to get better compensation picks when/if players reject the QO.

Given where they are both in the standings and with contracts and finances, this is pretty much expected. I didn't expect a full Chiarelli style standing pat, but they weren't in position to buy nor sell. I just hoped to see Chaim be creative and at least make some kind of lateral move to get even a #4/#5 starting pitcher under team control for a couple years, but it is what it is.

A big nothing burger? Now let's watch them fade from contention. I can understand players being pissed. And I once again think you're nuts to shell out top dollar to go to Fenway Park.

Gonna be riveting. Sorry, let me correct myself. It's gonna be awesome!

Now we wait to see if the same fans are happy with this middling turd sandwich next year when I am sure the prospects and balance sheet will be great.

Insane to literally do nothing, was the one thing they shouldn't have done and he did it. Back to back deadlines Bloom has had a chance to pick a direction and he has sat right in the middle.

Really, to do nothing at all is kinda stunning. Didn't have to be a huge piece but this does send a pretty bad message to Rafael Devers who was pleading for help. I am sure Cora and other players feel the same way.

3 Wild Cards in each league have just killed the deadline. Very few people in position to sell and prices prevent most middle-of-the-road teams from buying.

Has some pop and is still young. 25ishHR in 2021. Had a hamstring injury this year and hasn't been able to find a rhythm with Brewers. If he can find that pop, could be a good add.

Fair enough. I'm not apoplectic about doing very little at the deadline but if this team completely falls out of contention the organization should go in a different direction.

Urias actually isn't a bad pickup. If he's healthy he's a fairly solid infielder with the bat. Good to have on the bench or more likely if he is back and healthy he could push Arroyo/Chang out of the lineup.

His brother plays for the Orioles

Some pop for a 2B and good plate discipline but bad glove, bad baserunner and a career .235 hitter. Dumpster diving

Translation: Bloom was never really close on any SP (maybe except for Hill). He was just looking for one MIF who could play multiple positions (DeJong was another option).
He would only deal players like Duvall, Verdugo or Paxton for a massive overpay. I gotta assume that the Dodgers tried to get him and offered the same or better package they would have sent to Detroit for E-Rod.

Urias is a fine pick up. 2 WAR player for multiple years, but has benn injured this year and only played 20 games. B% and K% were in line with the other years. BABIP extremely low. I wouldn't be surprised if he bounces back.
