Playoff bubble team playing up to the bubble capabilities with some good days and some bad days and not enough depth or skill (not talking potential when talking "skill" here, just basic grade A fundamentals which they are lacking...).

Whether Bloom is the right guy or not, I don't know. I do feel he was right not to buy at the deadline though, because if you have both an undisciplined - and - a shallow depth roster on the bubble, you don't go all in. No debate. Can't teach good fundamentals with a couple weeks left even if you add skill and depth to backstop the gaps on the roster.

It does beg the question of whether Cora is simply not a grade A coach with his staff to teach fundamentals and being prepared as a pro - OR - Blooms' analytics algorithm has a major flaw and it doesn't account for the 5th tool of brains to play fundamentally sound BBall and the Sox are in a world of hurt because you "can't teach not playing stupid". Hopefully it's not both because in that case this will take a while to rinse from the system.

The Sox could have given this group reinforcements. They were trending upward for the last month. Most GMs hungry to win make these opportunities count

How is any of what happened today on Cora?

Not today, but the entire season has been blunders from him and after yesterday its become clear there is a disconnect. I'd keep Cora over Bloom without a doubt.

But it's just something with this team and everyone involved that has me thinking about things. Extremely frustrating.

Understood... but when you have one of the worst teams in terms of fundamentals (errors, etc) - AND - lack depth - AND - are not even holding the WC spot but games out... well... that's not a bet you should take if you are playing with your own $ IMO. Just my opinion but it's throwing good money after bad money and that very rarely pays off.

This year's Sox MO has to be swept at Fenway.

Only way to get decent reinforcements was to trade high-end prospects.

Not in the cards for this team.

If you want to watch some entertaining baseball the Little League World Series is getting underway. I love watching these kids play, they have such a real love for the game.

These kids play better defense than the Sox. And I'm not joking.

Yes they do. Their fundamentals are incredibly sound- wtf happens to those kids that make it to college/minors/pros? By that time it is like they've forgotten everything they were taught.

The only thing consistent on this team is their inconsistency.

Mediocre is Mediocre in the end. Sale and Story are too little too late anyway. I just hope we finish ahead of the Yankees.

Which is why this team is rhey are. Just look at number.

These are people playing. Read the room for a common sense change

Only the guys that can throw 95 MPH or hit 95 MPH get to those levels. Tiny percentage of LLers.

Used to go to a number of Pawtucket games when we had a summer place in Narragansett. PawSox always had better fielders (especially infielders) than the BoSox.

The fact that we can’t run the bases or play basic defense has to reflect on Cora. No way around that.

Celtics fans and especially Felger & Adam Jones went off - TRASHED when Brad picked up White

I couldn’t believe it- caller after caller parroted them

This reminds me of Urias

He has pull power stroke, walks, knows zone, and is a very good third baseman who can play short

He gets 550 at bats he’s going 40 doubles and 25 homers - park adjusted this guy is built for Fenway

I borderline love this pickup but if you don’t know who he is and trash him you are an idiot

Thanks for info

Funny I liked the pickup - had that Dan Paille feel of a pick up to me

However I think Urias can be even better
Brewer fan here......you know, that team that is 28th in MLB in Team OPS...

Luis Urias couldn't even consistently crack their starting lineup. So yeah, I guess he CAN be better, for whatever that's worth.

I’m thinking they’re never gonna sell when they’re 2.5 games out in this market

In hindsight it’s looking like they should have, it’s just not a realistic thing to expect
Yeah I get it. I just hate the straddle the fence deadline strategy. It feels just like last year but at least then they were worse and only had crap to sell. This year they could've brought in some real nice assets without even a total sell off but by all reports Bloom's prices were too high. I like a lot of what Bloom did this season but I also expected them to be .500 and sell some of the one year flyers that had value. Unfortunately they went on too much of a run before the deadline and Bloom lacks the conviction to pick a lane.
