I just don't know how you can turn around to this team after a mini sweep over Atlanta, being in the hunt and then still deciding to sell off pieces that can help you. Kike was different to me. He was having an awful season. But trading Paxton right now? Oh boy, Alex Cora would have steam coming out of his ears (it is funny how I haven't seen anything recently about Cora being a bad manager).

I completely understand. But the situation wasn't THAT much different one year ago at the deadline IIRC and Bloom went on record saying that they had trade talks over Eovaldi and JDM, just nothing came to fruition (= nobody offered what CB deemed as fair). He would have pulled the trigger just like he did with Vazquez.
What if they are trading away JP, just to turn around getting another SP with term?

Selling is a difficult wording as I don't see it that way. Paxton could immediately be replaced by Sale. Nothing would really change other than "not getting better on paper".
I certainly wouldn't crucify Bloom for that. What counts for me is value added. And we need steady value to be competitive for a long period of time.

I’d gladly take any of the 3, I may lean towards Donovan
Donovan would be ideal if the three. A lot of speculation that the Sox are also targeting Montgomery. The “legit prospects” suggest that Donovan could be the favored target. We’ve been seeing a lot of pimping of Blaze Jordan lately. More speculation that the package might include Jordan, but also Houck and Yorke.

I would do it, as I think Houck is simply a right handed relief specialist. Still, I do not think Bloom would do it.

I follow the Cardinals close and drafted Gorman in our April APBA Draft

He’s really a 3B and top prospect who already has 22 homers - i don’t see it

Gorman was a mid first round pick and top 15 BBA just 2 years ago
He’s a lefty

You get him they are asking for Mayer

Edman I like a lot - switch hitter plays all over legit stud fielder - they would love him here

What’s the cost ? He’s only just 28 and a Stanford guy

Sign me up if it’s not crazy - Also pretty good at SS

Devers
Story
Edman
Casas

Arroyo utility

Hell yah that’s legit high end

Morrison utility but I’m all over Edman

He’s a throw back to 60’s and 70’s type of player

We gave him in 1975 he turns that DO in game 7 and Sox win WS

Edman had wrist pain and had been out

Well, from what I've read, Paxton never was labeled as off limits.

I am absolutely ok with them keeping Turner around. I really started to appreciate the guy when he was always performing well for the Dodgers year after year and always seemed to have professional and pesky ABs, especially in the world series 2018.

I am betting against it. I really have a hard time envisioning Bloom getting something done with Mozeliak.

Yeh Chaim should just shop in the Cards store - Gorman I think was player of the month already and I’m St Louis I move Arenado to Dodgers & stick Gorman at third

I’m the Yankees I’m all over Gorman for third with that lefty power - yowza

But Chaim should go after Edman or Donovan long term at second

Edman is a switch hitter and can play everywhere

Duran, Edman, Rafaela and Story would get you 100-150 stolen bases and all very good to elite defense

Gorman is rocking a 30% K-rate. On top he has a .256 ISO which he never had before in the minors except for a brief stint in AAA. His defensive numbers were a lot worse last year. I am staying away, you'd be buying high.

Donovan also does not seem like a perfect fit and wouldn't be cheap at all.

Edman would be a very good get. Versatile player and a switch hitter. But again, I can't see him coming cheap despite some of his numbers being down. I wouldn't want to deal with the Cards. Always seem complicated. When they traded Lackey there, feels like the Sox got fleeced.

Ok I’m with you - what would you want if you ran the Cardinals and Chaim wanted to ask the return for Edman.
