Another great game from the bullpen.

Everyone in the lineup had at least one hit.

Sox had 6 walks and only 6 strikeouts. Very nice.

Who needs Verdugo?

Why does any right-handed pitcher throw anything but low and outside breaking balls to Wong? Can't hit 'em, can't lay off 'em.

Wong also had a throwing error that put him in the race for worst throw of the season with Alfaro. But I really like Wong.

Triple play perhaps worst baserunning ever by multiple players (Duvall, Yoshida) on one play.

That throw from Wong doesn’t approach Alfaro’s throw, that was a special kind of bad. Alfaro basically threw it into left field, I’ve never seen anything like that and I’ve been obsessed with the game for awhile. Wong’s was closer to Murphy’s than that one

Alfaro's definitely had more height and distance. Wong's went into right field instead of left.

Still, Wong's throw got the same "holy shit" response from me when watching.

Wong's 8 errors now ties him for the American League lead for catchers.

Everybody here. What a bad proposal.

I get that. Im just kind of down on whitlock. Always seems to have some injury. I dont think his stuff is good enough to be a starter since his fastball ticks down and becomes hittable. To me hes an elite multi inning reliever who is injury prone. Definitely a valuable guy but im not sure he can close and i dont think he can start. So hes like andrew miller. India is a top 5 pick 5 years ago, rookie of the year. Only one season hes missed time of 3. Plays avg defense and provides avg offensive numbers with above average power at 2b. No offense taken if people would rather keep whitlock but india is controllable for another 3 years and i think his addition would allow chaim to be more aggressive on the trade market with some low minors middle infielders that would be blocked long term with mayer and india locked in. Allows romero, yorke, etc to be trade bait to bring in pitching help. Maybe it accelerates his 5 year plan into a 3 year one

I don't want to trade Whitlock right now. I want them to end the madness of him as a starter. Put him back in the bullpen and hope he regains his form.

catcher errors can be misleading, a lot of the time they’re just rushed throws trying to catch somebody stealing and a lot of them should be picked/knocked down. He grades out as one of the better defensive catchers in baseball by the metrics and the eye test backs it up. He’s got a hose back there

Agreed.

Varitek is probably having a big hand in making Wong into to a top shelf backstop.

How about the madness of only having 3 starters?

I'd like to end that madness first.
Well, if they think they are in it maybe they trade for one. I just don't want Whitlock in the rotation anymore. Even if it's a stop gap measure for this season. Put him back where we know it worked.

Theoretically they have money to spend going forward, an alleged top 5 system. Does that mean we can stop with all the excuses for the big league club being mediocre?

It's almost like prospect rankings can be all over the map. Whether that's being ranked 5th by Fangraphs or whatever Keith Law has them ranked right now.

That’s true but certain publications are better than others. Fangraphs >>> either of those two ^

I don't have access to any in particular I just did a google search. If people on here have access to other rankings pass them on. I just think this is pretty common with prospect rankings. And I'm sure Fangraphs has been wrong plenty of times just like Keith Law. That's all. But hey if they are truly a top 5 system with a mid tier payroll right now then there should be no more excuses. Time to win and start producing like Dodgers East.

The Sox have been to the same amount of ALCS’s under Bloom as they did under Duquette, in about half the time.

TBH the complaining about the GM is getting weird at this point! They’re winning games and they’re being led by off-season acquisitions and guys who were developed by this administration’s player development staff. All this while the farm has ascended in a huge way. But apparently none of that matters.

In re: fangraphs there are zero ppl in the Sox top 10 who will graduate by the end of the year, they may end up being a top 3 system by the start of the off-season

I'm not sure whether people have been paying attention to the development monster the Orioles have been building, but when you have multiple teams in your division that are self-sustaining organizations, you have to change tactics. I don't think the Dombrowski-style of going all-in for a few years is going to work as well as it did in the past. Teams are getting too smart.

Adapt or die.

Went to Worcester game today

Rafaela heck of a prospect

Orioles have sucked for 10 years

Disgrace

Getting Ruschman & Holliday at top of draft was what you get for having a dog shit organization
