Had an enjoyable evening with a long-time Red Sox staffer who was actually hired by Buddy LeRoux and has survived.

My friend is convinced that FSG is content with selling 32,000 seats a game they are fine as the unsold seats are in the black hole of the RF Grandstand.

FSG knows that with COVID no longer an issue tourists will fill the seats.

Linda Henry is driving the development around the park BUT the day will come when Fenway needs to be replaced and then what?

They had better not assume they can sell those 32,000 seats. Boston fans-like us-are tough and will not accept this substandard product much longer. They should know from history that attendance can get very low fairly fast.

They’ll knock it down and put up something that fits the area or they’ll knock it down and rebuild Fenway Park.

Sox could play somewhere else during the build. Not sure how long it would take. Gillette for a season or two?

Or they build a Fenway somewhere else (I know Boston is limited on space) and Sox play at the old Fenway until the new is built.

Damn was checking ESPN and saw the Orioles have overtaken the Rays? How'd that happen

As for John Henry, there would be nothing more sickening than him being content with a mid tier payroll while continuing to charge top prices in the league. That is vomit inducing.

The Red Sox being 7-0 against Toronto yet three games behind them in the Wild Card chase is something

The O's suddenly being in first place was shocking to see. Had no idea they were this close to TB. But the Rays have a worse record than I had anticipated. Wouldn't it be something else if Baltimore won the juggernaut east? Can't they just trade for a Paxton-type pitcher?

Concerning Henry: Was it really his fault that Bloom decided to stay / go over the threshold (by a small margin) last year?
Every team / owner resets the tax at some point, even the Dodgers and Yankees. I will give him the benefit of the doubt, but at some point the Sox will need to spend heavily again. Taking the prices for ticket and other stuff into account, the Sox need to have a steady payroll in the top 5.

It just goes to show how difficult it is for a middling team like the Red Sox (not that I have a huge issue with it this year) to overtake so many better teams (on paper). It took them such a long winning streak just to get out of the AL east basement, yet they are still trailing the WC-teams. If the law of averages hits back, they are suddenly 5-6 GB again. Not to mention the 3 other teams who all just happen to be within 2.5 games of the Red Sox.

It's still not too late to hope for Bloom to get creative and sell off some pieces without waving the white flag (ilike the trade of Brandon Workman). For example: Paxton for a younger, (underachieving) player with more years of control left. Same goes for Verdugo.

If people think bricks are expensive now, wait till Fenway finally closes

Mets suck. Yet, I'm not confident.

Tommy Pham is their leading hitter (.271).

But they do have a number of long-ball hitters (Alfonso, Lindor, Alvarez & Nimmo).

They should have an advantage on the mound as Kodai Senga is having an excellent year.
