Hell baby
Thanks for the answer!

What's the word on Phoenix Call?
Sick name, committed to UCLA iirc

Very athletic high school kid, got announced as an OF but can play SS too. Not sure they’ll have enough bonus pool left to lure him away from his college commitment but we shall see

On a night when 12 teams score in double figures, Sox shutout by the worst team in baseball.

Just another horrendous night in the field.

Chang struck out swinging and may have missed the ball by 2 feet. He could be worse than Wong on outside breaking balls.

Murphy saved the pitching staff.

Eh, it happens. It's baseball. They've been playing great. Some nights you just get shutout.

Take 5 of 6 from the A’s and you did what you were supposed to do. Bello tomorrow gives them a good shot at that.

In better news I absolutely smoked todays immaculate grid, will probably be my best score ever. Pretty easy categories/crossovers today imo

I got a 67 rarity score. Not being able to get a more rare TB/TOR player than the one below bothered me, but 19% was actually lower than I expected.

My answers always clearly demonstrate that the apex of my baseball fandom was 2003.

I got a lot of early 2000’s guys too
Knowing the first Devil Ray all-star is just galaxy brain stuff.

For the Twins all-star I was racking my brain trying to come up with an original Washington Senator because that would've been rare AF.
But I figured Walter Johnson pre-dated the first ASG and wasn't sure if Frank Howard was Senators 1.0 or 2.0. I was also itching to put in Zoilo Versalles and I probably should've, but decided that Carew would be a safe enough pick considering everyone else would answer with modern Twins or even Kirby Puckett.

Only knew him because I loved him on the Sox lol

Glad you like it so, so much, but I am right. It is a second rate team with a rotten bullpen that will prevent it from making the playoffs.
I checked -- there are very few statistical categories where the Red Sox' bullpen isn't at least average.

And there are several areas where they've been outstanding, including preserving save opportunities.

The Mets are coming to town. Are they expected to sell? What would it take to land Verlander/Scherzer and would that price be worth it to the Red Sox? I haven't paid attention to either of these guys this year but just don't have a grasp on what it would take to land them.

They've both been good, but not great.

And they're both owed a crap ton of money next year.

I can't see the Red Sox being interested.

I managed a more rare Tampa/Toronto with
Fred McGriff (10%)...only because I remember the baseball card as a kid with him in the colorful Rays jersey

Ended up 8/9 (missed the Twins/As square) because I burned a pick. Could've sworn Lugo was an all star in Tampa

For just next year though? That would interest me depending on the cost. I have been consistent though in that I don't need Chaim to go all in on this season. Just make sure you have a competitive team down the stretch with a chance at the playoffs. I guess what would bother me is if the prospect ask wasn't a haul and the holdup was money for next year.

Scherzer's on the books for $43 million next year. He's got a full no-trade clause.

Verlander's on the books for the same $43 milliion, but if he pitches 140+ innings, you'd then owe him another $35 million in 2025.

I don't know... they're expensive, they're old, and they haven't been anything special this year. For either one, I'd be worried about exactly how effective they'll be moving forward.

Granted that anything can happen in a 3 wild card world, I don't think we're anywhere near serious enough as contenders to justify spending for Verlander/Scherzer.

Every time I start to believe in this team after a winning streak they go and lose 2 of 3 to the Oakland A's
