I wouldn't of gave the job to Arroyo, but he put up great numbers when he's not hurt. That's the key. He's always hurt.

I'm glad they're bringing up Valdez. I hope he grabs the job and runs.

I still don't like Mccarthy.

Arroyo always being hurt is something everyone knows though. Just like the mythical pitcher named James Paxton. It's like you shouldn't build a team with guys like that.

"Great numbers"? What great numbers? He hit .286 in only 300 PA a couple of years ago .262 the year before that. He is a bad journeyman infielder. A journeyman whose time should be at end. I am almost glad he is hurt again and someone better has replaced him.

The small sample size when he's not injured, he has shown he can hit in this league. But there is a reason why he can never sustain it. He's always, always, always injured. To take a risk on him as the starter was foolish.

I hope Valdez comes up and grabs it and runs away with it.

I think you are giving Arroyo far too much credit. He can't sustain anything because he is extremely overconfident which leads to his extreme impatience hitting. He is a bad hitter and a mediocre fielder. i too hope Valdez does something.

Hell baby
Detached....yikes! Not good
Believe that’s the surgery Story had so it’s concerning it can detach! On the flip side Kelly was throwing mid to high 90s after it so it sounds like Story should have his arm back (and he’ll be using it a lot less than Kelly)

Play for the other New York team and they just tell you to wash your hands.

Then when you don't they tell you again to wash them and kick out the other manager.

So was it rosin? Why are we kicking guys out for this? Speed up the game and then worry about nonsense like this which slows the game down.

Kluber with no control and serving up meatballs. Another brutal signing.
But fans obsess over the fact he didn't cost a lot!

Grandpa Kluber with an 8.50 ERA. Opening day starter.

Triston Casas is slugging .296

Looks like Brasier is one of those guys that has to be in the closer role to be effective I’m afraid

High leverage only!

One of the oldest pitching tricks in the book is rosin mixed with a little bit of sunscreen. Put a little sunscreen on your arm or on the back of your neck. Get a bit on your hand and then hit the rosin bag until you get a nice tack. Works like a charm.......Its also illegal. There's a lot of debate on which brand of sunscreen works the best, with the consensus among most MLB pitchers being Bullfrog gel.

I'll guarantee you that no umpire is going to toss Max Scherzer unless he found something more than rosin.

Just watched the Scherzer post game interview. According to Max it was "sweat and rosin"..........sure. That's the party line. What he MEANT to say was sweat + sunscreen + rosin.

What I didn't realize was that he got busted for it in the 1st inning as well and the umps made him swap gloves. They tossed him after they inspected his SECOND glove in the 4th.

I"m on Phil Cuzzi's side on this one unless Max has unique sweat glands....

The Oakland Athletics have zeroed in on Southern Nevada, signing a binding purchase agreement for land just west of the Strip where a major-league ballpark could be constructed.

The agreement is for 49 acres at Dean Martin Drive and Tropicana Avenue, owned by Red Rock Resorts, parent company of Station Casinos.

“For a while we were on parallel paths (with Oakland), but we have turned our attention to Las Vegas to get a deal here for the A’s and find a long-term home.” A’s President Dave Kaval told the Review-Journal on Wednesday. “Oakland has been a great home for us for over 50 years, but we really need this 20-year saga completed and we feel there’s a path here in Southern Nevada to do that.”

With the announcement of the purchase agreement, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred concurs with Kaval and hopes the A’s shifting their efforts solely to Southern Nevada will lead to the end of the team’s yearslong quest to leave crumbling Oakland Coliseum.

“We support the A’s turning their focus on Las Vegas and look forward to them bringing finality to this process by the end of the year,” Manfred said in a statement provided to the RJ.
