Just watched the Scherzer post game interview. According to Max it was "sweat and rosin"..........sure. That's the party line. What he MEANT to say was sweat + sunscreen + rosin.

What I didn't realize was that he got busted for it in the 1st inning as well and the umps made him swap gloves. They tossed him after they inspected his SECOND glove in the 4th.

I"m on Phil Cuzzi's side on this one unless Max has unique sweat glands....

They need to be consistent because they made the Yanks pitcher wash his hands and he came out again with stuff back on his hands but allowed him to stay in the game.

Just be consistent with it.

At some point they had to rip the Oakland bandaid off. Feel bad for their fans there, but it's been 25 years of this dancing around the stadium issue.

I can't put into words how bad that ballpark is

Oakland in 1968 had teams in the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL - come 2027 they will have none

Grandpa Kluber with an 8.50 ERA. Opening day starter.

Triston Casas is slugging .296

I wish they had traded Casas before. Just not a fan of a 1B whose best outcome is a walk. And having now seen for multiple weeks that he has issues tracking the ball or even reacting faster, I don't see the gold glove calibre defense either.
Yes, even top prospects may need a longer time to fully adjust, it has happened before. But the even bigger problem is that Bloom didn't think of that when he handed Casas the starting 1B job. If they still had a Hosmer, they could send him down to work on things and regain confidence.

I am disappointed Yoshida as well. A 90m 1-tool-player and we are told to be patient for him to adjust and not chop the ball directly into the ground time after time to see that 1 tool flourish. He's trading less Ks for weak contact in pitchers counts. In hitters counts, he keeps missing hittable pitches. That's the only hope that he starts punishing bad pitches more in favorable situations.

The line-up regularly features like 5-6 guys hitting WAY below the mendoza line. We knew these guys weren't going to be the 27 Yankees, but this is inacceptable. Let alone the starting pitchers that keep digging holes for the team after the 1st Inning and they have to rely on Ort and Brasier to finish out games in mid April, because the bullpen has already been overused.

To me, Casas looks overconfident. Doesn't appear to be humbled quite yet by the big time.

Maybe if they platooned him with Dalbec they could make one Joey Gallo.

The site here for the stadium is an interesting choice but ultimately a great one.

It's directly across the highway from T-Mobile, in the corner of Tropicana and Dean Martin. This gives the city what amounts to a "sports district" with Allegiant being less than a block away as well. Word is they're gonna be smart and build a pedestrian bridge over the highway linking the ballpark with T-Mobile/Park MGM which makes the walk to it from The Strip ~10 minutes.

As far as Vegas goes, I hope there are enough locals from Vegas and the surrounding suburbs who love baseball enough to buy season tickets. Because honestly, if you're a visitor in town for 3 days, there's so much fun shit to do that an Oakland Athletics game is at the absolute bottom of the list. Or maybe they'll just sell all their extra tickets to the Hilton Grand Vacations people to give away at timeshare presentations.

The Knights made it work, but there's a big difference between 41 home games over the winter and 81 home games across the summer.

Dont underestimate the casinos buying up lots of season tickets to use as comps.

Plus the number of tourists is so high (52 million passengers through the airport in 2022, 39 million tourists visited in 2022) that you only need a small fraction of them to choose seeing a game. On top of that, you'll see travel companies sell packages in other cities along the lines of "come to Vegas, gamble some and see your favorite team play the As".

Basically, there's essentially no limit to the appetite for entertainment options here in town.

Don't the As play in a cavernous stadium? Build a smaller, intimate park. I don't think there are many ballparks that bang it out every night. I think a baseball team will do fine in Vegas.

Chaim Bloom is salivating over this

NGL, I'm tempted by the idea of claiming MadBum off waivers and converting him to a lefty set-up man.

They can sign him for league minimum when he clears. No one is picking up that deal.

Arizona is eating the 4 mill. He can sign for the min of 700,000 or something like that. Ask DBack fans. He sucks. I don't want any part of him. But we're probably desperate.

That entire meal looks absolutely f***ing incredible. I'm hungry.
There are no two finer words in the English language than "Encased Meats", my friend......and Milwaukee has got that nailed.

Great venue to watch a game. Reasonably priced too. You can also tailgate in the parking lot, which is friggin' awesome as well.
