If Jarren Duran never does anything else he can play the lead in the Grady Sizemore Story.

I’m kind of sad to learn that baseball front offices - multiple, are run by incompetent scouting and GMs who I can no longer trust.

@LouJersey and moi had several conversations preseason how Buster Olney and Jon Heyman reported several baseball industry people laughed at the Red Sox signing of Yoshida.

Maybe he busts and they are correct but after 20% of season he looks good
We both also had the over in wins. I didn't understand the Yoshida hate, At very least we thought he would be McNeil-ish worst case scenario

Let the record show that MLB executives were apparently saying this, not just the hfboards haters. So that is a grand slam for Chaim. As I keep saying I am a slave to the scoreboard. This needed to be a team in playoff contention for Chaim to keep his job and so far the team has delivered.

The issue with Yoshida is and always was: the bat needs to be as good as it‘s been so far to be worth more than what he signed for (let‘s hope the power is not the result lf a hot strek, but the HRs he has hit to straight center field are not a fluke). Anything else is subpar (defense, baserunning).

If he‘s a 1-4 hitter in a good line-up, then Bloom did very well. Difficult to get these bats nowadays for less than 9 figures.

I agree, Bloom gets to keep the job as long as they are not disappointing (whatever that record may be at the end of the season) and right now they are the opposite of disappointing and thankfully the W-L reflects it.

These weren’t Bill in the car or Jimmy Puke - these were allegedly scouting and GM folks

Obviously it’s the haters of the bully Red Sox who won 4 WS last 19 seasons

Meanwhile the Tampa Bay Rays are 0 forever but the model franchise

Bloom F’d up major on Bogearts and not backfilling Renfroe with Adam Duvall a few years ago but he’s made some good moves. He needs to realize who he is GM of and who the fans are - and balance his thrifty ways with mega stars.

My APBA draft is next Saturday Lou in Quincy at my buds office - my second round pick I’m targeting Riley Greene of the Tigers. Was not happy to see him getting face time yesterday going deep off JV

He needs a quiet week

So the Reds are not doing well either. Graham Ashcraft is a name I saw mentioned on Twitter.

So who knows if he’s available. I couldn’t see why he would be? He’s young — 24. Under control for 4 seasons (pre-arb until 2025), arb 1 in 2026. Please correct me if I’m wrong on how long he’s under control for.

But in my YouTube scouting opinion, because can’t say I’ve ever watched a Reds game, he looks filthy. Big dude, throws heat — 97, funky arm action and has a nasty pitch selection.

What would a guy like that cost?

A lot, he’s really good and I think he has had early extension talks with the Reds. Probably starts with Bleis

It’s nice knowing exactly what we need to upgrade
