Brasier avoided imploding there. I sure hope Alex doesn't think he's the 8th inning guy going forward.

Since Doogie just got a ground ball base hit to right, it sparked my curiosity. I've done more radio listening than tv watching so far this season so can't really answer, have you guys noticed the shift ban having a tangible effect? Like are there a couple singles to right a game that make you think "last year, that's an out"?

And go Raffy
Spring training numbers were .233 in 2022 vs. .249 in 2023. In the first three days of the season without shifts, hitters had more hits than any time since 2015, according to Sports Illustrated. Of course, the sample size is incredibly small.

Hell baby
Sale had me very mad for a second there, glad he recovered

Good to see Kluber and Sale look like big league pitchers their 2nd time through the rotation

After looking through some stats, get ready for a heart attack:

Jeff Springs - former infamous Red Sox player - who had a 3 fWAR last year, is already at 0.5 (!) fWAR after 1 start for the Rays. The guy does currently feature a (MINUS) -0.3 FIP.

Thank god the Red Sox rotation is crowded and doesn't have a use for pitchers like that.

What the Rays are doing is just unfair. Feels like they have sticky stuff on steroids. If they EVER are going to win a title, just get it done this year already.

Get hyped. Hoping by August he is in AA. I’m booking a bachelor party type trip and I’m thinking Portland. Want to catch a Sea Dogs game… and some terrible golf lol
I’m out in NC right now and I may try to catch a Salem game on my way back

I’m with Sarge. Sorry the Sox won the game yesterday. This could be disappointing for some.
I would think it would be more upsetting to those who are obsessed with the prospects and farm system rankings and not those who want the Sox to build a team like they are used to?

i didnt think Duvall would move the needle but what a good signing
I wanted the Mets to get him so bad. He would not have been a regular though so he didn't sign.

Me and @LouJersey been discussing how Adam Duvall defense in RF at Fenway and power would be phenomenal fit here way before the Sox got him

35 bombs 240 average (maybe higher with no foul territory) and superb D was always just sitting there

Great win

Meh tanking for the mlb draft is stupid, it’s a bigger crapshoot than any of the other leagues. I’d much rather them try for a wildcard spot

Plus when you start purposefully tanking you start to create a losing culture that permeates throughout the org and it’s tough to shake unless you end up with a generational talent

I don't think Sale will ever be a top 5 pitcher in the league again, or worth the salary, but he can still be a very effective guy for the last two years of this deal.

Has had HR/command issues through two, which is not shocking given the amount of time missed. But the velocity seems to be there, and he's still getting swinging strikes which is very encouraging.

Assuming health, he probably gives them 160+ innings with a mid 3 ERA.
