Lakers are down 3-0, it's over for them.

The Celtics are not out yet. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if the Celtics won both games and returned 2-2.

I guess it depends on how much the officials decide to tip the scales in the Celtics favor the next 2. They did it in game 6 vs Philly, so I wouldn't be shocked if they did it again down in Miami.

Honestly with the Lakers almost certainly out, I am not sure how much TV difference the Celtics/Heat matters.

The nice thing about being an older sports fan is you eventually sort of see everything in the playoffs. If the Red Sox can come back from 0-3 to the Yankees literally anything can happen, you know?

And if you want to feel better about the Celtics chances you can remember how the 2011 Bruins lost their first two playoff game at home to Montreal only to win the Cup. You can just look at that if you want to remind yourself no series is over until it's over, and title teams almost always face some major adversity along the way. (At least in the 21st century.)

I won't be doing that myself, though. It's over.

Starting to think you're related to Joe Mazzula.

They didn’t lose the game because Robert Williams wasn’t in. They lost the game because of unforced turnovers, terrible shot selection, terrible defense and all the things we watched for years. It was a classic collapse down the stretch that was present for Brad, Ime and still now. We watched them lose three games to Miami last year the exact same way. The difference this time is that Butler isn’t hurt

The Florida Panthers were in an even bleaker spot but now look at them/us! I’m talking basketball on a hockey message board with this profile picture!

Life comes at you fast!

Both the offense and the defense collapsed during the last five minutes.

Williams absolutely would have made a difference on both ends because a) the defense is obvious and b) the Heat went back to their zone, and the Celts were finding success against it with Tatum and Williams. Without that (and because they still lack a reliable ball handler) they were once again stymied by it.

On top of that, Mazzula's inexplicable and indefensible decision to have Grant cover Butler 1-on-1 was a f***ing nightmare that wouldn't end.

Swap the coaches and this series is 2-0. Could the Celtics have overcome their coach's mistakes? Yes, but as CJD so often says NBA coaches don't matter that much. Only, in this case, we're looking at the players to pick their coach up when all we want/need him to do is put them in the best position to succeed.

I am not absolving the players. Last game I said again and again Jaylen and Marcus f***ing sucked. But when your coach is doing a terrible job and you're losing close games that's a huge problem. Joey M is in over his head.

Mazzulla has made some mistakes but he isn't even in my top 5 of reasons they are down 0-2. The talent gap is so wide between these teams

Exactly, same exact problems for the last 3 coaches. We said it was their inexperience before, but something stinks at the core of this team. If they go down to a far less talented team then them here, they have to start making changes to some of the core roster pieces

Surprise Surprise The Celtics play tonight as a team. Brown stops with the sloppy play and poor offense and defense. Brown and Tatum coordinate their offense together.

They are not going to go down 0-3. The NBA won't allow it.

If Boston is 0-3 after tonight, who will watch the NBA on TV for the remainder of the playoffs?

The NBA original plan was LA vs. Boston for the championship, with a max TV audience

I still think they can win the series. If they win tonight they don't even have to win game 4 to do it either, just win tonight. If you want some copium, the last time the Celtics were down 2-0 after playing on home court to a Jimmy Butler led 8 seed they won 4 straight.

I was wondering if we should start the “well, like the panthers, the Heat are jot a “real” 8 seed”

For all the crap the nba gets for trying to "extend series" it's a one sided whistle for the Heat in the 1Q. A offensive foul, loose ball foul and a blocking foul that Mazzulla had to use his challenge on to not be called a offensive foul against Boston. No defensive fouls called that didn't need to be changed after review against a defense with multiple bad to average defenders who play physical and swipe on drives a lot
