I think he was told to knock it off because of analytics these days. Bruins use it quite a bit.

Foolishness.

I realize many are in love with fancy stats, and doubtless they have their utility.

This old man relies on the eye test, thank you.

Again, I don't think it was Hathaway, specifically. It was the entire team.

Foolishness.

I haven't heard of Forgert Sucks? Does he play center? Who would the bruins give up to get him?

Forgert (né Forgett) Sucks is not a centre.

Defenseman.

Blocks shots routinely. KIlls penalties major major. When out of the line up, PK struggles significantly. Aye eye test. Fancy stats proof.

But, you know, he blows.

So there's that.

My guess, and it is only a guess, is that the Bruins wouldn't have to give up a thing to get him.

My hot take: JVR will be pretty good, Geekie won't be what some people are predicting and will therefor be the whipping boy

It's my intuition, but I suspect the Geek will prove a useful upgrade, if not spectacularly so.

The whipping post will likely be reserved for JVR and Shattenkirk. And, unfortunately, if they don't perform relatively well, Pavel and Charlie.

I still believe Zacha can grow and become a respected, reliable, productive two-way center. I also see him as someone who can become part of the leadership group going forward.

But, the Bruins must be careful with Pavel.

The primary reason why he didn't blossom in NJ, I think, is that he was thrust into a major role too young, too much was expected of him as the sixth overall draft selection, and he was supposed to be "The Guy."

The Bruins would do well to shelter Zacha to the degree they can.

Though Charlie is not a number one center, perhaps they start with him instead. At the beginning of the season, for a few months perhaps, they can alternate between Coyle and Zacha. see who is best in the 1C role.

Zacha is 26 and can develop into a very good player. Given his struggles with the spotlight in NJ, the high expectations and vanishingly small patience of Bruins fans and sports media, it would be best to handle the situation with care.

Trent Frederic is this years whipping boy. It's already been decided. Geekie is safe! :sarcasm:

I forgot about Frederic.

You may well be right.

I'll try not to be harsh, but honeslty, Freddie is in the doghouse.

I still don't know what he is or whether he fits here. I like his story and in some respect am pulling for him, but thus far I haven't seen much of a reason to do so.

Last season was an anomoly per the calibre of who he was surrounded with, and the out of this world success of the team and individual players. That's not going to be the case this season, or for a while.

Again, there are no more excuses per log jam or contract. It's put up or shut up time.

We shall see.

Dump forgert and get a center. Lohrei probably makes the team anyway we dont need Derek.

We need Krejci.

He could still surprise ya,

Will be interesting to see what they do with the wingers. If they pair Marchand-Pastrnak, life is pretty easy for either center. Split them up, we might have the same problem we had a few years ago whenever we split up the perfection line where our entire top-6 has a tough time scoring.

I expect they will shuffle the lines but either way, think Pasta and Zacha hit it off last year. Would keep them together. Neither are a long-term option as the #1C but it's a nice opportunity for both to show what they can do. In a bigger role, with at least one top-10 winger at their side.

He was under the bright lights last year , has enough time in the league ,playing with Pasta , let him rip .................He is more than capable of being successful I am sure.......

"forgert" might be the best misspelling of a Bruins player in this board's history.

somewhat agree but at 26 I think it's sink or swim time, he's a big boy now, lets see what he has ...yes it might not work out but if it doesn't now,.... don;t know if it ever will ...no more babying once you get a certain age, man up or be swept aside

edit: must have hit several buttons at the same time for the double entry ...please no what she said jokes

Say what you will about Looch 8 years ago, but Bennett, Gudas, and especially Tkachuk bitch slapped the broons all over the ice. The B's had NO physical answer for 95% of it.
More than anything that happened this year, that part surprised me the most. Especially after picking up some guys who could throw the body around at the TDL.

I don’t like blaming coaching for losses generally, but whatever the strategy was for that series it was horrific. It’s like they never looked comfortable, even when they won.

So it’s Hathaway’s fault this team got pushed around against Florida? Where were Foligno and Frederic? seemed pretty clear to me when Marchand was skating away from scrums instead of causing them that the coach had them playing differently.

Tkachuk, Bennet and Gouda’s did as they pleased and NOBODY did anything about it, but yes - it’s on Hathaway.

Hell, Ekblad was acting like a tough guy.

I keep coming back to this one.

Lauko-Zacha-Pastrnak (Czech Line)
Marchand-Coyle-Debrusk
JVR-Merkulov-Geekie
Lucic-Frederic-Greer (Bash Brothers)

Edit: Sorry just saw the line up thread

Whipping boy is gonna be Looch.
No. It won't happen.

I think there's too much respect, too much affection, for what Milan has meant to the Bruins.

It might not work out, but I think most fans will be respectful. He's not going to be here more than a few years anyway.

Remember, other clubs came calling. Milan wanted to come back to Boston. He's not going to dog it. He's passionate, and that's always been the engine of his game.

I think it's fair to say that he's passionate about Boston, and he's passionate about the Bruins.

Besides, Luci will go looking for any detractors.

And he will find them.
