I would like to see the B's offer a PTO or two way contract to Nolan Patrick. Will he be a #1 center? NO. That said, he is only 24 and was a talented young player before injuries. Actually, his biggest physical concern centers around a hereditary migraine issue. In my mind, there are a lot of reasons it wouldn't pan out but why not take a flier on a guy (if healthy enough to even go) who is still young and had a good deal of talent coming out of the WHL. Again, depth/upside potential only, not penciling him in to the lineup.

I'm just glad everyone has come to terms with the fact that these are our C's. It was time to move on from the dream.

Well the truth is they simply don't have the currency. The only assets that could be of interest would only create a hole elsewhere. Though it can be argued that a 1C > a winger or 3-6 D.

Why not, cant be worse than some of the options on the team. PTOs don't cost a cent and maybe he impresses enough to win a job.

I would be ok with this. I was just reading his Wiki. Sounds like this kid was a beast in juniors. Poor kid has really been cursed by injuries. If they can figure out the right treatment for his migraines he could have a ton of upside.

Not a bad idea...Why not take a chance he stays healthy. Thinking his health issues are connected to concussions. Poor kid.

Forward Nolan Patrick got off to a promising start with the Vegas Golden Knights in his first season with the team, but injuries would hold him back the rest of the way.

Patrick, 23, played in just 25 games for the Golden Knights, having totaled a mere two goals and five assists.

At the start of the season, Patrick had opportunities at center on the first line, He would score his first goal in his fourth game with the team. Good fortune did not follow the forward from there, though, as he would go on the IR two days later with an undisclosed injury.

Patrick missed two months. Not long after he returned for Vegas' New Year's Eve game against the Anaheim Ducks, the forward had to miss a game due to COVID-19.

Patrick had a strong showing in his team's overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Jan. 25 when he scored a goal and an assist.

Just five games later, he took a hard hit to the head in the Golden Knights' loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 16, which put him on the IR for nearly a month.

He returned for seven games in March but would then sit out the rest of the season due to an undisclosed injury.

Even five years into his NHL career, Patrick still has not had a complete opportunity to show his true capability.

The forward was a lottery prospect coming into the league, eventually having been selected second overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Patrick played in a combined 145 games in his first two seasons with the franchise, but missed his entire third-year campaign with a migraine disorder at was a crucial point for development in his young career.

This hiatus seemed to have taken a toll on the forward, as he scored just four goals and five assists in his 52 games played in the 2020-21 season.

Patrick was then traded to the Nashville Predators in the 2021 offseason, before he was dealt to the Vegas for former Golden Knights forward Cody Glass.

One would think the young center is due for a break. With the team recently trading center Max Pacioretty, Patrick could have a more impactful role in Vegas next season if he stays healthy, especially considering center Jack Eichel did not have a full season to truly prove his value to the team in 2021-22.

I am sure he has been to many fine medical Doctors in the past but what better area than Boston to take chance at if not solving his problem at least alleviate the medical problem enough to attempt to resurrect his career , he certainly is young enough to take a flyer on ,.........wish the best for his health more importantly .........

I knew the Nolan Patrick segment of our off-season would be coming like every year but it’s always jarring to actually see it arrive.
Well I think I would rather be talking about and inquiring about a 24 year old former first rounder than 38 a year old Stastny and Carter that is being that everyone is talking about ...............

What can you tell us about Geekie ? I’m not very confident Zacha and Coyle are good enough for the top 6 but Geekie does appear to have untapped potential from what I have read .

I think Zacha will surprise as a decent 1C. I love Charlie but he's a 3C.

I'm very intrigued to find out what The Geek can bring. Honestly, I know next to nothing about him, save that he had limited minutes in Seattle because there were established center's in front of him. 6'3" 192 pds, just 25 years old.

2 mill X 2years tells me Sweeney and Co. see something I haven't. Yes, could be a swing and a miss, but I'm interested to see what happens.

It's possible -- possible -- that he wins the 2C job.

I think everybody needs to pump the brakes on the Geekie hype. He put up very good numbers in a 4c role last season, so there may be more potential there. However, those who are expecting him to be anywhere close to a 1C are in for a rude awakening. If everything goes perfect, then maybe he can become a 2C, but that is the absolute best outcome imo. If he had the potential to be a 1C, then Seattle would not have let him go. Remember that some people thought that Mike Reilly might have potential to be a top 3D on the team after his post deadline stint.

I didn't know Gary Bettman was Batman.

I don't know, this was his last scouting report prior to the 2017 draft, injuries are obviously a factor, as well as Philly not letting him develop, but he sounds like as good a gamble (if not better) than Geekie, Boquist, Brown, Coyle, and whoever else they have on roster as a candidate for the 2C.

By the way, to me his lack of development is why the Bruins need to be cautious with Lysell, Lysell gets hit frequently and unless Lucic, Brown, Frederic, Greer, etc start to make it clear that the Bruins have recovered from Cassidy's "take the power play" mentality Lysell needs to get bigger and smarter before anybody starts seriously talking about him in a top 9 spot.

A big-bodied center with franchise upside, Patrick is an intimidating force with the ability to threaten a defense with both world-class vision and elite goal-scoring ability. He fits the mold of a power forward, but Patrick uses his puck skills to intimidate rather than with brute strength. A gifted artist who never tips his hand, Patrick is an above-average skater with a deceptive change of pace who makes minced meat out of an over-committed defender and the goalie who eventually is forced to confront him. He owns an excellent shot that can find the smallest of openings and his release is already at a pro level. A two-way forward who plays a 200-foot game and lends support to his defensemen, Patrick has dealt with several injuries over the course of his junior career, to include a nagging groin issue that kept him on the shelf for most of his pre-draft campaign. Is he a cornerstone building block? You bet, and don’t think for one second he’s not ready for an immediate, post-draft jump to the NHL.

I am going to give Sweeney more credit and guess that he brought in at least one forward (Brown) and one defenseman (Mitchell) at just about the bare league minimum so that the press box guys on the roster are consuming as little cap as possible.

If my theory is correct, then Beecher could actually be ahead of Brown on the depth chart, and would be called up and go into the lineup ahead of Brown if there was an injury.

I think you're right.

Regardless, Beecher is going to receive every opportunity in camp, as will McLaughlin, Georgie, Mason, and even Lysell.

What happens, I don't know.

There's been the thought that Lohrei begins the season in PRO. They see what he has and if they think he's ready, he replaces Gryz, who would be moved.

I'm not saying I want this to happen, but if Mason is actuary ready, it's an option.

Paul Stastny was out performed offensively by Nick Foligno last season. If that's the type of guy you want to "plug" into the top 6 role, you might as well take a bath with a toaster.

I will. I will take a bath with a toaster.

Toasters are underrated.
