On paper, scoring is going to be an issue this season.
But I’m excited to see what we’ve got in Geekie, Boqvist, and if any of the prospects force their way onto the team.

We all knew this season was coming.

Bergeron and Krejci were eventually leaving us.

We went all in last year. And failed.

I don't think many people think Coyle or Zacha are legit top line C's, but more so just end up there as default. Until we actually do get one. Which may be a long while until that happens. Can they slot in there ok? They likely will look like they fit in at times, and then completely underwater at others. It's also why neither are getting paid the 8+ that current top line centers get.

The question now becomes are Coyle and Zacha good enough to keep us in a playoff spot with the rest of the team as they are? I'd loosely say yes, but unless something goes sideways (injury or something), the team should be "good enough" to compete, but not the top tier that they were.

While the team had success (mostly in the regular seasons), in terms of team building, Sweeney played it badly. Over investing in LD in both cap and assets. Handing out at least one bad contract every time he had a chance to, paying to get rid of bad contracts, being so cap strung that we are paying almost 4.5M+ in bonuses to guys that aren't even skating this season. In addition to never really solving the post-Bergeron Bruins dilemma of the next center. So while not ideal, Zacha and Coyle are what we have. Barring something big, I don't see that changing.

Schiefle and Lindholm two so called # 1 C that everyone is so set on trading for do not make 8 mil a year ,so does that mean they are not # 1 Cs if so why the hell do we want trade for them...........

Guessing almost certainly both will be making 8M cap hits next contract. Kinda confused how after what I wrote that was the take away.

They are both 1C's I'd be happy to aim for. But I know many have reservations about either of them.

I'm not against trading, but I'm also not pretending like the Bruins have a ton of extra assets to offer right now.

I still don't understand how some think that a 31 year old Coyle who has never been a number one center can this coming season become one.
For 4-5 games I guess he could fill up at 1C like we saw vs Florida but for an 82 games season? Forget that we got the worst C group in the league

I didn't say he was the 1C , playing between Marchand and DeBrusk is not the worse thing that could happen ...........
Rather plug paul stastny there but everyone here hates it. There is slim pickings out there for centers and its currently a black hole right on the roster and I'm pissed. Last year was our year so deep everywhere and monty and players played hot coal after game 4.

Krejci played 20 minutes in game 1 and 19 minutes in game 2. Coyle played around 16 minutes in both. In games 3 and 4 Zacha played 18 minutes and Coyle played around 16 minutes.

Ironically, the 2 games that Coyle played his most minutes were games 5 and 7 (both went to OT) and they lost both.

Paul Stastny is 109 and had 22 points in 73 games last year. He's cooked.

I’m just concerned that Sweeney will bring in more underperforming, cheap players like Patrick Brown to block opportunities for youngsters.
I agree not interested in Brown type players , I will give Sweeney some leeway and say he is more for "insurance" reasons in case the youth do not work out ...........but if they don't work out Sweeney should working in between periods as a game analyst ........if get my drift....

If my wife over cooked something like that well.................you know what I was going to say but fear stopped me........

Unless he has a career year, can't see anyone paying Scheifele $8 mil.

Any chance Sweeney takes a shot and signs Farinacci out of Harvard? If he doesn’t sign with Arizona.

Captain of the team, ok scoring despite some injuries, strong 200 ft game, is in the right spot defensively.

stop getting so personal.

I was just watching the highlight video on Potrias in the prospect thread. Man that kid looks like a stud! He’s my dark horse for that 2C spot with Marchand and Debrusk.

I know that’s a long shot, but one can dream haha

Marchand Geekie DeBrusk
Boqvist Coyle Frederic

I think they keep Coyle on the third line and give it hard minutes…and give the Geekie line cushy deployments. Maybe build up Geekie’s value enough to be part of a deal…

Seattle has done a good job with player evaluation, do you think they would just let a potential 2-3C go for nothing? Let alone 2 mil per.

This may be oversimplifying things.

1st of all Seattle is deep at center especially if Wright is ready which expected.

2nd Geekie went to arbitration last year , perhaps some bad blood there.

3rd pretty sure Seattle hasn't been around long enough to support your statement. For one it's a small sample size and then what is it that has impressed you because I don't see it over here?
