& for next season they are bleeding out talent(while getting nothing in return) and are bringing in worse players

Interesting. I’m sure Sweeney would’ve been okay signing Bertuzzi to that deal. Sounds like either Bert chose Toronto over Boston, or misjudged his market and Toronto was no his best option on day 2 of free agency. Either way, slimy on his part.

Here’s the other thing- we can cry about “why didn’t we do that?” all we want but A) they don’t have any space and still have others to bring back and B) you don’t know what kind of negotiations happened- you can’t force a guy to pick you! I’d much rather play on Toronto if I was trying to rebuild my value for a year!

As the saying goes, “the cap is crap”. This looks awful on Boston. You give Hall away for peanuts, and can’t get Bertuzzi to sign for 1yr 5.5m? I’d take Bertuzzi at that contract over Forbort & Frederic for the same number or maybe more.
