Tkachuk's line is relentless. Haven't really noticed Barkov at all, which is weird because he has two assists. I am doing other things while watching though so maybe I'm just missing him.
Barkov such a dangerous player, especially against us, in seasons past. Seems like I've hardly noticed him through 2 series.

CBS Sports:

"Barkov recorded a pair of helpers in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Maple Leafs.

Barkov is riding a four-game point streak and has written his name on the scoresheet in all but two of his eight postseason contests. While the 27-year-old center hasn't been scoring goals, he has just one goal on 23 shots in the playoffs, he continues to rack up helpers with seven total. The fact that Barkov is averaging nearly three shots per game should see him find the back of the net sooner rather than later"

I honestly have a hard time watching the Seattle playoff games because I get infuriated again every time I watch Eberle play in that jersey. Almost 20 minutes of playing time, a goal and an assist in Game 1 of the second round, while Bailey sits in the press box and Cal Clutterbuck plays. I still cannot believe we protected Cal Clutterbuck over Eberle.

Crazy that Pavelski scored 4 goals in a losing effort. Amazing accomplishment, even more so considering he’s almost 39, but kinda sucks that they couldn’t find a way to get the W

Because thank our GM who believed the 4th line was somehow still fine, even though it was at its peak in 2021. Btw Trotz loved to use it also. The 4th line has to go sooner rather than later.

Barkov hasn't been doing much below the hash marks. I don't know if this is by design to keep him from going in deep in the O zone. Compare that to last season where he was taking straight paths driving to the net and his big body was difficult to defend against.

Just wanna say, in 2019 I was banging the table for us to take a serious run at Pavelski. What could have been.
I don't think he would have come here. I remember something to that effect that when he was in San Jose the Islanders was one of the teams on his no trade list. But yeah I would have loved to have Pavelski on the Island.

The expansion draft rules were ridiculously stacked for the expansion teams. It's an insult and an affront to fans of established teams like the Islanders who haven't won a cup in decades and are in salary cap hell because of the static cap that teams like Vegas and Seattle can contend for a Cup in a year or two. I root passionately against these teams for this reason (although I would pull for them vs the Rags and Leafs). The expansion team rosters are built for the playoffs. Deep teams that can roll lines.
Bettman and the NHL are giving the expansion teams some bang for their entry fees.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Our GM was doing whatever he could to get a $5M contract off the books.

Everyone here hated Eberle. This is a classic example of grass is greener on the other side and we have some serious short term memory loss on this board. Folks here raged weekly about how lazy he was. Now he is gone and we miss him terribly.

No Barzal and no Dobson. Probably hurts us more than helps.

So why not Bailey?

Why does this need to be explained over and over and over again?

There was no guarantee that they'd select Bailey and there were rumors floating around that either Martin or Clutterbuck would've been selected if they were exposed. That means that no money would've come off the books and that would've been a real problem because then Lamoriello would've had to pay somebody to take money away instead of just letting Seattle take it for free.

The 4th line was arguably our best line in these playoffs. Not saying much since it was a first round exit but they also contributed offensively, scoring some clutch goals.

We also swapped Eberle out for Palmieri because we all agreed that Eberle was too soft and disappeared during the playoffs.

Despite Palmieri's tough stretch of injuries during the regular season, he's been a solid playoff performer and has had more goals per playoff game than Ebs had.

Eberle 49 NYI playoff GP - 13 goals
Palmieri 25 NYI playoff GP - 9 goals

No. Cizikas was especially impressive. But Martin and Clutter both had huge goals. Stupid penalties aside, their physical play was a factor in both wins.
They also were constantly being pinned in their own zone, allowed for Slavin's goal to happen, and were being abused by carolina's 4th line. sorry, the most impactful line was Engvall/Nelson/Palmieri

He'd be whipping boy #1 on this board if he and his $5.5M cap hit were still here.

Disagree with your first sentence. Constantly pinned in their own zone? Didn't see it. Abused by Carolina's 4th line? huh? Didn't see that either. Allowed for Slavin's goal to happen? I guess every other line that was on the ice for GA allowed those goals to happen as well. Slavin's goal is 100% on Sorokin.

Look, I get their faults. They are past their prime (but still effective) and I understand decisions have to be made when looking at what their cap hit is.

And I did say arguably. Obviously Nelson's line was the most productive, offensively.

Barkov is likely playing the Huberdeau role and Tkaczuk plays low. Can't have both clogging the other up.

This is why I am gonna laugh when we dump Bailey for practice hockey sticks and he goes to Anaheim or some west coast team and he goes out and scores 30 goals. Everyone will miss Bailey... EXCEPT ME!

Same for Eberle.
