My recollection from the expansion draft is that people were glad to see Eberle go, and the consensus was that SEA screwed up the draft in a big way.
I’d much rather have Tkachuk than Barzal, and Dobson is good, but has massive warts. No Barzal and no Dobson. Probably hurts us more than helps.
So why not Bailey?
Couldn't disagree more.As for the fourth line: Cizikas showed he still has some giddy up left but it’s more sporadic than it used to be. While he’s still decent on the PK he’s also lost a step there as evidenced by our PK in the playoffs.
Hindsight being 20/20 I’ll say this:
I bet Seattle would’ve agreed to take Bailey if we attached a second round pick.

Martin and Clutter are done. A nice snipe by Clutter and an unexpected tally or two by Martin doesn’t change the obvious deterioration of their play. They both need to go or sit next year. New linemates might also improve Cizikas’ performance.

So it was more like a re-tool rather than a rebuild? Impressive that they could do that starting with no players. There were some who wanted to keep Eberle but I think this was the general consensus, especially about Seattle messing up the draft. They made no side deals and didn't acquire any draft capital.
I was happy to see Eberle go. Would’ve been happier if Tarasenko returned. My recollection from the expansion draft is that people were glad to see Eberle go, and the consensus was that SEA screwed up the draft in a big way.
No no no… as an expansion draft it is classified as a RE-USE.So it was more like a re-tool rather than a rebuild? Impressive that they could do that starting with no players.

Fair points and the touch of sarcasm is appreciated. So it was more like a re-tool rather than a rebuild? Impressive that they could do that starting with no players.

Don't forget the public apology. Sorry to take this COMPLETELY off topic but this is interesting.Same thing happened with the Vegas draft. Everyone clowned on McPhee after the draft, then they won like their first 10 games or something, and everyone quickly switched to saying the expansion rules were unfair and they should make expansion teams earn it a bit more.
This is the world we live in. 24-hour news cycle is all about amnesia and what have you done for me lately. Remember when there was actual shame and embarrassment in the public sphere? You got caught doing something and you had to fess up, explain yourself, do PR, etc. Now you can just lie, deflect, and wait.
The only way Bailey is going to score 30 goals is if he's extended 3 more yearsThis is why I am gonna laugh when we dump Bailey for practice hockey sticks and he goes to Anaheim or some west coast team and he goes out and scores 30 goals. Everyone will miss Bailey... EXCEPT ME!
Same for Eberle.
I would too, but the problem for us will always be CENTERI’d much rather have Tkachuk than Barzal, and Dobson is good, but has massive warts.
If you’re going to move Dobson, that’s the kinda deal you do it for
Not that that would have gotten it done, mind you
I've defended Bailey more than most here but he never has, nor ever will, score 30 goals in a season. The only way Bailey is going to score 30 goals is if he's extended 3 more years
I'm more likely to score on a dating site 30 times in the next 4 years
Was looking at games played for both Martin and Clutter for the past 4 years. While, Martin has been trending upward and played almost all games this year, he still is only averaging about 3/4 of a season. And we don't know if this year is an outlier. Cal, on the other hand, has only been able to play half the games each year.Hindsight being 20/20 I’ll say this:
