He averages like 95 points a year.
Seriously. I was actually wondering if we try to deal for him if they're looking to move on. Bailey and JGP? They don't care what they get - if they create cap space they just pick from the UFAs clamoring to climb aboard.

He got called out by his GM last year for not being good enough in the playoffs and responded with 2 secondary assists in 7 games. He’s a big problem for them right now.
Possibly. I kinda see the Trouba contract being way worse. At least Panarin gets them to the dance. They're paying Trouba franchise defenseman money.

Panarin is an issue, but for them, it's a middling one. Their high picks not producing and Trouba seem more of a problem to me.

Hoping for Oilers over the Leafs in the SCF.
Although I’m not from Canada I suspect that most Canadians outside the greater Toronto area would root for the Oilers over the Leafs.

I’m with you on that. If we can’t win it, I’d love to see a generational player up his game even more to grab the ultimate prize.

Trouba is definitely an huge issue for them as well. Their high picks are just pure comedy at this point.

I just wanted to touch on this before the playoffs go any further.

Toronto finally advancing past the first round after adding a bunch of toughness and grit to their roster is precisely why the advanced analytics stuff is scoffed at by some fans. It paid off in big ways for them, grinding out wins and goals when they needed them. You cannot construct a roster simply using a spreadsheet and those stats are only a piece of the puzzle.

With BOS and Tampa out it just feels like it can be anyone coming out of the east

Agreed. Toronto has the best chance they'll likely ever have.

Bad penalty by Bennett to open up the game, jumped into a big hit on Kampf.

BOB with a huge save on the PP. LEAFS PP looks dangerous

They're moving the puck really well early on. Good kills for Florida, now they need to stay out of the box.

It's embarrassing how quiet that arena is right now. Their first second round game in 19 years and they're just golf clapping.

Great patience by Tkachuk, gave himself a better angle and then the rebound is better for Cousins to bang home.

They've been hungry for a long time. Passionate fan base. Just like when we ended the curse and drought against the Panthers with Tavares overtime goal maybe we felt that was the victory and everything else was house money That year?

Crowd is dead silent

1-0 FLA as we speak.

Florida is really throwing the body early and Toronto isn't really responding to that at all.

You think they'd be more revved up.

It's tough to say whether that's correlative though.

Gotta admire Florida’s tenacity

It's tough to say whether that's correlative though.
I’d suggest with Toronto’s multitude of failures until they added some grit, it’s reasonable to say it’s correlative.

Maybe. I'm mean, I'm not suggesting it's not, but we'll see how the rest of the playoffs fare for them. It could just be an anomaly or that the team has matured generally speaking.
