Will Smith looks like Jack Hughes. Should easily be top 5 right now.

Not quite at the same level but yes he also makes me think of Hughes a little.

I’ve seen him between 9-12 on some early draft lists right now but i think he’s gonna rise on some lists during the season, probably not top 5 though.

Would love the habs to grab him if they draft around 6-7-8 range.

Andy Cristall with a 4 point night, Lukas seems incapable of not racking up a couple assists.

This dude is rolling at 2 points per game now in the WHL... pretty hard to ignore. 32 pts in 16 games, unheard of for a draft eligible unless your name is Connor Bedard.

Barlow continues to produce in a game against Oshawa as Calum Ritchie continues to put up goose eggs. Forget Ritchie for top 10 consideration at this point.

Some CHL players who weren't drafted last year that surprised me, but should definitely get reconsideration this year:

Hudson Thornton (D), Prince George, had a 5 pt night in a 9-1 stomping of Victoria last night. Kid is now at 29 pts in 20 games. He plays an uptempo game.

Teammate & draft eligible Riley Heidt had 3 pts & is now at 32 pts in 20 games. Kid does everything. He's working every shift at both ends too. He's like Suzuki on over-drive.

Egor Sidorov (LW), of Saskatoon Blades, scored the OT goal for Saskatoon. He has 18 pts in 8 gp. This was one really confuses me. He's a Belarusian kid who came over to play WHL last year & had a solid rookie season. Should have been a mid-round pick by someone. Kid is built like a brick shithouse as my grandpa used to say & can score.

I was watching Saskatoon for Tanner Moldendyk (LD). Kid doesn't have a lot of points (only 8pts on 18 games, no goals), but he's legit. Skating is outstanding - directional skating, and he gets on people defensively. There's zero room when this kid is out there. Really smart. Leftie who plays the rightside.

Austin Roest (C), smallish - 5'10, kid can really skate. Put up 32 pts last year, which is why he didn't get drafted. Already has 30 pts in 19 games this year. He's aggressive in pursuit of the puck, and drives the net.

Tommaso De Luca (C), Spokane, is an import from Italy. He's a 2024 playing his rookie season in WHL. He has 11 pts in 15 games, only 3 goals, but holy shit, this kid is a pain in the ass to play against. Would love to grab him in later rounds.

De Luca is a 2023 eligible. Did you mean that he's a late 2004?

Heidt is really good. Kind of reminds me of Palat? He does it all. Hes gonna be a glue guy for sure. Similar to Nazar whom I loved last year too.

Definitely, glue guy material. There's no real holes in his game, per standard for 17 year olds needs to get stronger, etc, etc, but there's a lot of skill there, and he's not a perimeter player. He'll attack the slot.

I have some doubt about his shooting maybe?

Yeah, he doesn’t have a shot that wows you or anything more in the "soft hands" category. Kind of like Guindon, who doesn't have a great shot either, but accuracy, intelligence, quickness and ability to get in close gets you goals.

Claude Giroux type of goal scorer.
