A shooting winger/center for Dach and Slaf. Of course here Bedard and Michkov are the prized possession... but Yager ? Sheesh.
A bigger body for CC/NS. Dvorsky? I think he may be too slow for the duo, but his pace can be close to NS. Hes also 3 years away IMO.
Dvorsky is shooting center, he is not a physical player even if he has solid size.

Unlikely pick for us due to Russian factor and organizational need, but Mikhail Gulyayev would be a major homerun swing.

Carson Bjarnason is really good.

There's no way, with the performance of Dobes, Dichow, Primeau, Vrbetic and Croteau in the system that the Habs don't select one of Bjarnason, Hrabal or Fowler. I'd bet any money they work the board to procure at least one of them.
Totally agree. I like Hrabal, he is so huge, but can move pretty quick.
It looks like there is no top goalie talent in 2024 draft. There is Gabriel D'Aigle in 2025, but he will be too high for Habs.
So they either draft the starter now or need to find other solution (trade of free agency).

He is physical in the same sense that Backstrom is physical. He plays a heavy possession game at ES in the ozone and thats something I like next to either duo I created in my head. He also possesses the dual threat and being a C/W can get him to play on both lines.

He's fast on the wing but I find he slows the game down at ES, which is something Suzuki all three Habs core forward do /Caufield.

Theres a bunch of forwards that would look good on either the first and second lines.

In order of preference:
Slaf-Bedard-Dach
Slaf-Carlsson-Dach
Slaf-Dach-Michkov
Fantilli-Suzuki-Caufield
Slaf-Yager-Dach
Slaf-Dvorsky-Dach
Haltunnen and Barlow on either lines
Slaf-Dach-Wood
Caufield-Suzuki-Ritchie
Slaf-Dach-Leonard
Caufield-NS-Gauthier

Maybe Stramel or Musty with the small boys ? Unsure about the IQs.

It kinda sucks that my favorites so far are players that wouldn't exactly fit with the Habs core (Ciernik, Stenberg, Cristall, Heidt, Moore and Smith.)

Its a year I am very happy well have two picks in the 10-20 range.

Im usually all for smaller euro defenders but I don't see a NHL player so far. Stops moving his feet a lot, scans the ice a second too long (Mostly while not moving his feet) and somehow (Unsure if his Krylia is really fkn bad or wtv) his breakout is very bad. Ill watch more because he does have good offensive vision, but even then Im not sure.

At least not in the first round.

He's a stud but if we have a chance to grab one of Bjarnason/Hrabel, do it now and don't wait in 2025.
Not in the first round or I riot

Vinni in 2024

Hrabal is also very good handling the puck around is net… D’aigle seem like a super prospect but 2025 might not fit with our time line...

Honestly this year might be a good moment to get someone to play with one of the duos.

I am hoping for Barlow and Gauthier. Habs likely add another first at deadline. Maybe goalie with that. Or our 2nd? Most goalies are developed by other teams though. Keep an eye out there I would.

He could trade a pick for young right D though. Like he did last year to get Dach.

I think the best cases scenario will be drafting#6 just too many team that Struble out of the gate and now the Be in full tank mode. we will have to hope for the lottery to help us.
Not sure. Every year some teams have slow starts and then recover. Can’t really see MTL ahead of PIT or OTT at the end of season. Hard to imagine that NSH VAN for example won’t climb their standings. The West being weak, SJS ANA will have some points falling to them at some point. On the other hand, CHI and ARI likely sell at TDL and likely fall afterwards (but they are already behind the Habs). Very possible the Habs end up bottom 5 again, even if they get a lot more points than last year.

The 1st at TDL will depend on how the vets are playing until then and if Hugo want to trade players with term because I don’t see any rentals worth a 1st right now.

Watching Dvorsky and Ciernik at a U20 international tournament. I found Dvorsky has really struggled to do well when the caliber gets higher. Good anticipation but lack the explosiveness. Germany has been disciplined so he didn’t get to showcase his elite PP skills yet (almost midway thru the 3rd). Had him 3rd on my ranking to start the season and he might be out of my top 10 soon enough.

I kinda like Ciernik’s game. Will have to watch him more.

I don't think I'll drop Dvorsky out of my top 10 but he certainly looks more like a PP specialist, and a support scorer in the middle then someone who is going to command and run his own line.

It is what it is with him. He will be a core piece on his shot alone and the thing is that he has good fundamentals, but he is one of the "weaker" of the top 10, doesn't belong with CB, AF, MM and LC like we thought he did.

Dvorsky does need to get all around better mobility wise. It's the main thing keeping him away from NA. It's doable, a guy like Suzuki wasn't exactly a burner at 17.

I don't know if he has really high end hands either.. so zone entries are not really his specialty. He'd look good on Dach's wing, though.

Would love to add a third 1st rounder at the deadline which could be used to draft one of the top goaltender prospects.

I just don’t see any assets that will bring that pick in unless they decide to move on from Anderson as he should get a pretty good haul. I was hopeful of Monahan but think he might only pull a 2nd+ (which is still a huge W considering we got him for free!)
