Guhle is not really close to Drysdale
Uhhh, in what way? I agree that Guhle and Drysdale are not close but I suspect you might mean it in a different way than I do.

I guess what I would say is I don't think it's a coincidence that Hampus Lindholm had a massive resurgence the second he stopped having to to carry Drysdale around.

Drysdale is offensively a lot more gifted than Guhle, it's simple. Guhle might be better defensively, we'll see in a few years. It's still very early and both these teams are terrible.

Habs fans want to draft size, then complain about Slaf.
Habs fans don't want to draft small, but love Caufield.
Team composition vs high picks. If elite talent like Caufield is available you take him, but you have to balance it out. Slaf is both a hedge for size and a swing for the fences.

Highly unlikely Slaf ends up being first in a redraft but we’ll see.

If the Habs draft 2nd overall, there is no indication that they would select Carlsson over Fantilli. On all/nearly all draft rankings, Fantilli is secure at 2. If anything, I have seen Carlsson drop to 5 and 8.
Carlsson is a great prospect, but the skating difference kind of sets them apart. Even if Carlsson is the craftier player

I want the guy that will go to war in the playoffs... is Smith that guy? Benson certainly is.

Is the gap in skill big enough to overcome this?

What about Dvorsky? Reinbacher?

I'm looking forward to finding out what Hughes & the boys think about these questions...

Dvorsky is a sure fire playoff warrior.

Modano skated like the wind, had a great shot and played a physical game, so yes.
Yeah I think the advantage for Modano was that he played in an era where players like him were rare. But now the game is faster so Fantilli will probably not attain the same superstar status. I like the comparison.

I think my top 8 is pretty set assuming Reinbacher doesn’t destroy the WCs. The reason I’m doing a top 8 is just for the off chance we don’t have Michkov on our board at all.

1. Bedard
2. Fantilli
3. Carlsson
4. Smith/Dvorsky
5. Dvorsky/Smith
6. Michkov (2nd if there’s no Russian factor)
7. Leonard/Benson
8. Benson/Leonard

There might be some flip flopping between Smith and Dvorsky as well as between Leonard and Benson but those are the best 8 guys in the draft IMO.

Historical Habs draft picks in case the Leafs blow it.
