Washington signed Ivan Miroshnichenko (W) to an ELC. He bought out the last year of his KHL contract to come over for 2023-2024 season, which got the conversation started on if Michkov could do that & for how much.

Winnipeg signed their 2021 2nd round pick Nikita Chibrikov, who captained the 2021 u18 Russian team.

Tampa Bay signed their 2020 3rd round draft pick Maxim Groshev (W).

NJD signed their 2019 3rd round draft pick Danil Misyul (LD).

All 4 signings happened today. KHL contracts are currently expiring or in buyout period.
So all 4 of those players are over here in North America ?

What do you mean? We literally have three to four impact forward (Cole, Nick, Dach and maybe Slaf) and only one impact D in Guhle.
If I were to go for need, it would definitely be Reinbacher. I feel confident enough in those 4 and Roy. Again if we’re talking adding a Mitchkov or an almost guaranteed superstar forward then of course.

I don’t see that in Smith or Benson or Dvorsky.

I like our D prospects but I’d sooner bet on the 4 you mentioned and Roy than Mailloux or Barron being top pair guys.

Aside from need I still feel better about Reinbacher than the forwards outside of the big 4

If Michkov really wants to play in the NHL...he should defect and bring his family.
Why does a player have to renounce his own country and the legal contracts he has signed just to play in the NHL? Wild. Would you defect from Canada, probably never to return again for your career? No? Why is that your expectation for Michkov then?

Yes, as is Mukhamadullin who came over as soon as his KHL season ended to play with San Jose's AHL team. New Jersey signed him to his ELC in 2021. He played 2 seasons in KHL under the European Assignment portion of the ELC that also allowed the contract to slide. In his case, one year. The 2nd year is a loan. He still got his signing bonus.

He has 2 years left on his ELC.

I'm pretty sure with Michkov a team can still sign him to a 3 year ELC post-draft. The first two years at 18 & 19 are slide years. They actually don't count against the term of the contract. At 20, a year of his ELC would be lost & he would be loaned back to KHL for his final year.

He would come over at 21, with 2 years left on his ELC, or, if a team was in the playoffs after his final KHL season had ended he'd be eligible to play in both NHL or AHL games.

Less talented forwards? Is Hughes a joke to you? Hischier, Bratt, Mercer, Meier, Sharangovich...?

We should. 3rd round is open country for me.

Si c'est sérieux, t'es un vrai mayais.
Hughes is one player, and a super star for sure. But NYR had Panarin, Kane, Taresenko, Zibenejad, Kreider, Fox, Trouba, on top of one of the best goalies in the league. In terms of raw talent they were definitely the better team.

Kane is old and definitely 2,or 3 steps from. What he was. Tarasenko is also old and not as good as he once was. Kreider is just a pp specialist/net clean up. There's not a whole lot of skill there. Trouba throws hits and doesn't have much skill.

Russia is on the fast lane to becoming North Korea. Not many teams with a high pick will be willing to draft Michkov. He will drop to Washington, a team that will likely take the chance due to OV being there.

- Smith is gone at 4
- Michkov is a no draft.
- I don't think Reinbacher will be considered an option by HuGo.
- Benson, although very talented, is tiny, not ultra fast or a great shooter, and would compete as a LH winger with the deepest part of our prospect pool (Slaf, Farrell, Roy and Heineman).

That leaves players like Leonard, Wood, and Dvorsky. One of them will be in Montreal.

Never sleep on Yager. 16 points in 10 playoff games

Getting caught breaking military laws during wartime seems to be a big no-no. I’m glad he isn’t imprisoned. If it were Israel I’m not sure he would get away with getting to play pro hockey in just one place.

Who says his father was killed?

At what point do you take a breath and reflect on the things you’re saying? How would you feel if thousands of pimply foreigners were baselessly speculating, and implying heinous things, on an immense and personal family tragedy?
Who's to say he wasn't killed. Obviously it's none of our business and it's horrible he lost his father but i wouldn't put it past Russia to do something crazy like that. It's basically communism over there and with the war I'd be scared for my family personally

I think my point is that there was a lot of skill but not a lot of speed. All of those players are clearly skilled but have lost a step as you said

NYR had the bigger names but some guys that have past their prime, NJ have guys entering their prime…
