I think we all do love him lol. Youd have to be a true knob to hate on that guy. Speed, intensity, skills, etc.

You know what? Wouldnt even be that mad if the Habs picked him 5th. It would suck that him and Slaf are the crown jewel of a (failed) rebuild but he would give us good hockey and make the team competitive sooner rather than later.

I mean, he's perfect for Suzuki-Caufield though. Actually, he's perfect for Dach too. I don't see the rebuild as failing if we draft Leonard. Lol

He's going to college next year, and we should still draft high in 2024. Atlantic is the toughest division in NHL. Boston, TB, Toronto, Florida, Ottawa & Buffalo all have legit playoff aspirations.

We'll be bottom 10 next year too.

NJD: got two #1 picks (J. Hughes, Hischier), a 2nd overall (Nemec), 4th overall (L. Hughes), and 7th overall (Holtz) in a 6 year period.

We've had one year! And, we don't even know where we're picking yet in 2023.

Dont think Molson will sign for a third year of this. Im fully expecting the Habs to start being bubble next year, especially with the kids progressing and healthy.

I don't see a failure at all if Habs finish with Slafkovsky and Leonard after 2 bad season because of their rebuild. I'm very high on Slaf and he have all tools to have same impact of players like Nichushkin (today), Svechnikov, even Nash//Matthew Tkachuk. He is a unique young player. Ryan Leonard have high offensive talent and he is in the same category of Zach Benson... so at 5, i'm 100% fine with Ryan Leonard... he have all tools to become a 1st line player in NHL.

Chicago and Anaheim don't appear interested in Michkov...San Jose appear lukewarm about drafting the Russian.
Teams drafting at the top of draft see Michkov as a major RISK.
I would prefer...Carlsson, Fantilli, Smith, Benson, Leonard or Reinbacher.
Oh you work in an NHL front office, please tell us more!

It will be a progression year that ultimately won't lead to playoffs, but it won't nearly be the sludge of a season the last 2 were.
At least try and fight for a playoff even if you ultimately come up short. Can still sell the likes of Edmundson. You can usually get a quality player late lottery, we recently got Caufield and Guhle in that range. Suzuki went in that range too.

I’m kind of drunk on the options.

I need the Lotto to sober up.

I will say I am not in favor of dealing No. 17. If anything, use it to move up.
Disagree on moving up. Theres gonna be one two three four probably five quality players available there.

top 4

Leonard
Dvorsky
Danielson
Cristall
Heidt
Lardis
ASP
Yager

I hear you, see the logic.

It’s just my way of underlining how much I want two prime 1st rounders.

Heck, bring on a third.

I don't think anyone we draft (unless we win lottery) will be on team next year.
I think we are basically DET next year...flirt with bubble spot but finish 10-15 (ESPECIALLY if we get PLD we aren't bottom 10)

Dvorsky or Benson ? Im leaning Dvorsky

I wouldn't sleep too long on Hrabal. A lot was made of shit goaltending this year and I suspect goalies will move quicker than usual.
Id comfortably take him at 17 depending on the options left on the board

Any pick we can realistically acquire in the top 15-20? Which teams are looking to compete immediately and don't need the draft capital? Buffalo? Ottawa?

What would we offer?

We can use Ryan Leonard's skill level and grit in our top six.
