2023 NHL Entry Draft

Fast forward a year and our prospect pool is going to be insane especially if we land a top 5 pick in 2023.

Mesar and Beck are going to wreck the OHL, Roy and Kidney in the Q, Farrell and Hutson in the NCAA. Slaf, Guhle, Barron, Harris in the pros. Add a possible top 5 pick, Florida 1st and a high 2nd.

Carlsson starting strong is great, there are going to be plenty of high end options in the top 10. Last year was just a lot of disappointment checking Kingston boxscores, no more this year!

Not sold on Roy and Kidney, I think they will bust. But I agree with your sentiment...adding three more top 40 prospects to our pool, with one of those likely being in the top 5 will go a long way.

I'm hopeful they are top forward prospects we add in 2023 as we are still lacking elite talent upfront, and of course the gaping organizational hole at RD and G.

Yup, where is he slated to go?

If he is projected top goalie but only 10-12 of them in NHL. Most drafts don't have good goalie in them.

Late second or Third round pick.

Kidney playing a really strong game, as he's done all prospect tournament.. but I mean, yeah, you can call every prospect a likely bust and you'll be right more often than not. It's not a bold proclamation.

Just something to keep in mind, MSL's son has opted to leave the NCAA and will play in the USHL this year with his younger brother so I got to think MSL will get to see a number of USHL games (not saying live so much since hockey.tv has on demand for all USHL games) So the Habs should have some good insights on the USHL this year I would think.

I know they are likely not going to be the best forward(s) of the draft but I really want Fantilli or Carlsson.

A potential top 6 assuming we eventually get PLD with Slaf, Dach, Fantilli/Carlsson, and PLD sounds like a handful to deal with.

I am not allowing myself to get excited about Bedard or Michkov. Those are the crown jewels but it will be luck.

As long as we get Fantilli Carlsson or Yager I'll be ecstatic. Respect to some other very good prospects but those are the guys that I feel can be the face of the franchise.

I see Michkov between Top 4 -6 in June.

I would be ready to wait 2-3 years for Michkov personally

It is a minimum of 3 years and......nobody knows if he will play one day in North America.

It's nuts to take a risk with a Russian player those days in the top 5.

The situation with Russia and the west is not getting better..look at Putin few hours ago.

Michkov would be Sidney Crosby and I would not draft him top 3 either.

Wonder if he can break his contract with his russian team on humanitarian reasons in fearing he will get drafted to go fight a war he doesn’t believe him and would more then likely lose his life in battle.

It’s but a matter of time before they start forcing people to report to the front lines.

I'll be hyped for Benson too. He's going to murder the WHL this year. His motor is insane, it's like the exact opposite of Shane Wright's. I too want the elite 1C but wouldn't reach for a center if Benson looks head and shoulders above as a prospect at draft time. Suzuki, Dubois, Dach, Beck might be good enough at center ice.

I have Benson a bit lower than those guys because of size and skating. He will be able to be effective no matter what but I the others have high end iq, skills, size and skating. Obviously Bedard and Michkov don't have the size but the talent level is way higher.

I'm sure Minny are extremely happy to have wait for Kaprizov (even if he wasn't a top 5 pick)

At the end of the day, you're probably getting a franchise player with Michkov so I'm ready to wait the years it will take.

To be fair, the Kaprizov example doesnt work.

Michkov would go top 5 at worst.

In the 2015 top 5 it means youre drafting Kap over Mcdavid, Eichel, Strome, Marner and Hanifin.

Bedard, Carlson, Fantili, Yager, Dvorsky all play center.

Theres more centers than actual wingers that should go top 10. (I dont think Fantili and Yager are 100% Cs, but wtv)

Also we already have Suzuki, they really only need one C.

If the pick is Strome, sure. If its Marner, im not sure they would rather have Kaprizov.
