2023 NHL Entry Draft

He's in a growth spurt right now physically, this makes him a bit slower overall, I think that's what we are seeing. A center with inside skills is very valuable, he just needs to catch up to his growth first, get his speed back and then we'll see. If he can't do that, he'll be a winger. Don't think this year is the final test for this, he's young in his draft year. Carlsson is 6 months older than Dvorsky.

I'm gonna be watching a lot this year to see where his zone exit/entry game is and where he can take his playmaking.

I've never really been a fan of Jeff Carter style centers.

I think Michkov should get drafted #2 unless he shows no interest in coming to NA. You just don't pass up on a talent like that. Even if he comes into the league at like 23, you can sign him to an ELC and you get a superstar player making under 1 million for at least 2 years.

Technically, more around 4.5 mil per because he would probably hit his milestones to get all bonuses.

Defense men generally mature later. causing scouts to make more mistakes. Just as many come from late first to 2nd round and later, than top 10 picks

I'd like to find a Slavin type in later rounds of this drsft
I think there's a slim chance one of the guys already drafted turns out to be better then expected. We'll see!
People often put a ceiling on players, I think many can develop into 1st line caliber it's just the probability is very very low for some. Looking at a 18yo Chara none would have said his ceiling was a number Norris contenter

Purely from looking at his stats, it doesn't seem like he's the big offense producing type to begin with.
+ we already have a stud in Lane Hutson (small too)

Don't underestimate what he will bring to the team.

I'm confident he'll be a NHL player and have a successful career as an offensive Dman.

16 yrs old Dmen rarely have a big production especially on a stack team and look at his stats in the playoffs. He was getting better and better during the season.

That’s not a reason to not draft Tourigny. If both really hit there full potential, then you can trade him for a big return in a position of need.

Neither was I, but we've seen a much larger shift in the game to goal-scoring Cs from playmaking Cs over the past 10 or so years. And similarly many more of the NHL's top play drivers and playmakers are wingers.

They need to be able to navigate the neutral zone, of course (as you pointed out, exits/entries), but in the offensive zone Cs tend to be the highest forward and are therefore most likely to be the beneficiaries of any turnover or won puck battle. Beck's goal tonight is a good example. It's much more likely that a guy like Marner is in position to win a foot race to the puck and feed Matthews in the high-slot than vice-versa.

I feel like if you dropped Point, Aho or Lindholm into the 2000-2010 era they'd be much more likely to develop into 25g/60a type players than the 40g/40a type they are today.

Even if Habs surprise people and don't have high pick in 2023 draft... having 2 1st picks, it's huge. Great assets in that draft for sure...

I really want a high pick, but if Dach become the player drafted 3rd overall... that's already a huge W for the future of this team. So i rather have a Dach who explode and have a better team than expected than a high pick and Dach don't explode.

Fast forward a year and our prospect pool is going to be insane especially if we land a top 5 pick in 2023.

Mesar and Beck are going to wreck the OHL, Roy and Kidney in the Q, Farrell and Hutson in the NCAA. Slaf, Guhle, Barron, Harris in the pros. Add a possible top 5 pick, Florida 1st and a high 2nd.

Carlsson starting strong is great, there are going to be plenty of high end options in the top 10. Last year was just a lot of disappointment checking Kingston boxscores, no more this year!
