I'm surprised to hear Marinaro saying that about CBJ. Timmins is Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting and Grant who is often in sync with TT has Smith at #12.

Regarding Bobrov and Michkov, every team wants Michkov. It will all come down to each team's risk assessment of where in the draft they're willing to take a chance on him. Keep in mind that this Habs brass don't seem to let anything leak unless it's intentional.

In any event, I doubt Tony or Pronman have any reliable scoops on either team with still over two months left before the draft.
It’s just nice to know that they may not be completely against selecting Michkov or other russians for that matter.

It's all Aaron Portzline . Marinaro saying it's what Pronman said. Took a quick look to see if I could find where Aaron Portzline said it, but couldn't find it.

Marinaro reporting Corey Pronman saying if Columbus picks top 4 (like 3 or 4) they're taking Will Smith.

Also saying Brobov wants Michkov, calls him the Russian Bedard...

Just finish the Slovak game Dvorsky just doesn’t seem to be able to create any separation with is feet or hands I don’t think he is a good target with our 1st pick… I have to rewatch that Canada game since Canada was so flat… ASP rack up pts but I think most of Sweden D look great… the more I see the more I think the draft is a bit over hyped, we really need to win a lottery spot…

Dude, theres barely any noteworthy players at the U18 rn. Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov, Reinbacher, Benson, Yager, But, Gulyayev and Danielson are all absent. This is a great draft, not as incredible as we thought, but still really deep.

Canada got smoked.... jesus

Lots of Swedes with good showings
People underestimate ASP a lot here. I know Canada is missing some key pieces but they had supposedly one of the best goalies in next draft, 3/4 players supposed to be pick round 1 at this draft. People are fascinated with young NA players because they put up a lot of points in Juniors

The minute Reinbacher goes, you'll see the other top D start going. For some reason, teams panic when Ds start to get picked.

I can see habs picking Reinbacher if they fall in the lottery. Otherwise, we will be drafting a F this summer.
Yep remember Seider then Broberg, Yotes trading up for Soderstrom, PHI focusing on York… drafting for need is never a good idea. However, I believe Dmen are worth more so it can be the right move still. If people think ASP becomes a new Karlsson they ll select him top 10, Reinbacher a new Seider he ll be taken at 5… I think some GMs may even go for Dragicevic way too early if he has a good U18 (not starting well with -5)

I don't believe this premise at all. They're not gonna pass on Carlsson or Fantilli for Will Smith. Especially since they already have Kent Johnson who is a very similar player to Smith.

And not sure how Portzline would know shit about Bobrov. Would be cool if true but this sounds like a load of bunk

If by miracle Florida wins vs. Boston and we pick 20-25.....we.might draft Etienne Morin

I don't see the Habs using a premium pick on a left shot defenseman.

I don't really see ASP as the next Karlsson, but I do see him as better than Söderström. Probably better than Lundkvist too, who was one of muh boiz in his D year. Better than Brännström, too.

ASP got nothing in common with Karlsson but being Swedish. He had a good night on the scoresheet but still doesn't impress me beyond doing everything well but nothing elite.

I was monumentally more impressed with Boqvist at the same age.

Right, I never really got the Boqvist hype. He looked like a lost puppy in Swedish pros, which is why he couldn't keep a job and has since not really made that much of a name for himself. I ultimately decided between Quinn Hughes and him based on the fact that Quinn was just having a lot more success.

Among all the small-ish Swedish dmen, the only one who has looked more comfortable than ASP is Lundkvist. I made the observation back in 2018 that Lundkvist was better than Boqvist in the SHL (because he was, and by a lot), and the two are a lot closer now than it seemed back then.

The more i dip into the 5-15 range in the draft, the more i would totally feel comfortable with probably any players.

Smith, Benson, Reinbacher, Dvorsky, Moore, Leonard, Sale, Yager etc.

Some would be considered "reach" but to be honest, although none of them are perfect, they all have enticing qualities that would make them worthy of a top pick imo.

We are such in a f***ing good spot.

Yeah, ditto about Sweden. Really surprised at how well Wahlberg & Edstrom skated. Really strong on their feet. Strong, powerful strides.

Barlow definitely looked like his feet were heavy today. But, one reason why I like this tournament is it's played at a much faster pace than CHL games, so you can really pick up the skating deficiencies. Dragicevic was a disaster in his own zone today, and can't skate either.

I've been feeling for awhile now that the WHL guys in particular are getting overrated (except Bedard), and Swedes are getting underrated.

Still like Leonard & Moore neither disappointed me today.

First game, hopefully, Team Canada gets their shit together.
U18 has history of being bad judge of future NHLers. I remember Kostitsyn and Koktaniemi having great tourneys.

I feel like we might be able to hit a homerun with one of the finns in the second round: Jarventie and Halttunen.

Though smaller, Jarventie is miles ahead of Halttunen is terms of hockey IQ.

So the latest Sick podcast with Tony Marinaro says that a Habs scout like Michkov. I skimmed through the episode and didn’t hear anything about that. Did anyone else?
