Listening to it now to see if I can hear anything about Bobrov
15:20 mark the question is asked and there's nothing about Bobrov in the that area while talking about the draft. Is it in this podcast that he says Bobrov likes Michkov?
If so what’s the timeline of him talking about this? Because i don’t want to listen to the whole hour lol.
The question was asked if they select 4th. The host is assuming Bedard, Fantilli and Carlsson are gone. He believes they would take Smith, only because he believes the Blue Jackets want to compete right away and Michkov's contract keeps him away for another 2 years and I'm assuming Portzline believed Smith would be ready sooner and believes Cbus wants another centre.I don't believe this premise at all. They're not gonna pass on Carlsson or Fantilli for Will Smith. Especially since they already have Kent Johnson who is a very similar player to Smith.
And not sure how Portzline would know shit about Bobrov. Would be cool if true but this sounds like a load of bunk
I don't see the Habs using a premium pick on a left shot defenseman.
ASP got nothing in common with Karlsson but being Swedish. He had a good night on the scoresheet but still doesn't impress me beyond doing everything well but nothing elite.
I was monumentally more impressed with Boqvist at the same age.
“He’s a coach’s dream. You’ve never met a player that wants to work as hard. He’s a natural leader in just by him holding himself to a higher expectation and standard so that naturally everyone around him works a little bit harder,” McDonough said. “He’s a beast. There’s not one thing that I can ask of him that he won’t do, and he won’t leave the ice until he can do it and/or he’ll ask for the video and he goes on his own time and picks apart things in those videos. He’s always doing one extra on top of the five extra the coach gave.
He’s going the extra mile every time.”
From a Wheeler The Athletic piece about Oliver Moore:

Oliver Moore is the 2023 NHL Draft prospect who makes fast players look slow
Moore could be a top-10 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, with "God-given" speed and athleticism currently on display at the 2023 U18 worlds.theathletic.com
Fastest in the draft, leader on a stacked USNDP team, "coach's dream", "very, very strong"... His coach said he's the most "pro" teenager he's worked with since Scheifele/Gauthier.
Could he be picked before Benson? Montreal only picked great skaters last year. Benson is not fast.
Would not be surprised to see Benson fall...
If he becomes a Larkin-like player, that'd be pretty nice.
I’m not speaking just U18 or about those top player… Also Not as incredible as we thought seem to like a you could also say over hype… there are just so many players with ? or in the same tier that some great player will be pick later but I also feel that in the middle there will be a lot of disappointment. Every draft there always around 52 legit NHL player, of which 32 have significant impact and maybe 11 of these are star player, more is a good year, ex 2003 is probably 60/38/19 and less is bad ex 2013 where it is probably 49/31/8… it is better than avg I don’t know that it will be significantly better especially for team out of that top 4.Dude, theres barely any noteworthy players at the U18 rn. Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov, Reinbacher, Benson, Yager, But, Gulyayev and Danielson are all absent. This is a great draft, not as incredible as we thought, but still really deep.
They can’t go wrong… pretty sure that there will years of complaining around here if they don’t pick the top player…My comparison is Dylan Larkin aswell and I believe that he can reach that type of impact. I'm a big fan of Smith, Leonard and Moore... they are all 3 very very good players. Habs are in very very good spot to grab a great young player... between, Smith, Benson, Leonard, Moore, Yager, Dvorsky and Reinbacher... they can't go wrong with any of them... they are all have qualities to become really good NHL players.
But what about the HFboards narrative that Bobrov always takes EU players that don't turn into NHLers. If Bobrov has the inside scoop on Michkov and they pick him, I’m going to do backflips.
Yup, Reinbacher should be the guy, especially if we get Dubois. It's a no brainer for me if we stay in 5-7 region.I know a team that has a weak RD prospect pool.
The Montreal Canadiens.
If we pick one of the forwards at #5-7 and somehow can get ASP with the second first rounder, I'd be very glad. I'd not mind trading up for a 2nd/3rd rounder if he's still there at #12-15.
We already have physical Ds in the system (Xhekaj, Guhle, Mailloux to some extent). High offensive potential, we've got nothing outside of Hutson... Who's not guaranteed to make it.
ASP would fit like a glove to our timeline. One more year in Sweden, then a year in the AHL, the he can make his way onto the team. No rush, we can let him develop physically and his D game.
Molson will say no. Especially after the Mailloux situation.
Wow. You really think your opinion is that powerfulMy opinion of this management group could completely change this draft.

Moore is my pick if Benson, Bedard, Fantilli, Carlson and Michkov (assuming Montreal is comfortable taking him ) are gone...From a Wheeler The Athletic piece about Oliver Moore:

People are worried that he won't come over at allI'm totally ready to wait 3-4 seasons for Michkov to come over. He wouldnt be a game-changer for the team until he's like 20 or 21, same age as Caufield is approx. So why the rush? Let him dominate there and come over once his contract expire.
It's a 3rd tier league.Michkov is gonna look so out of place in the KHL. The corpse of Radulov is like 4th in scoring and Dmitri Jaskin is first.
Moore has pretty poor numbers in the USHL though. What DC o scouts have to say about that?Moore is my pick if Benson, Bedard, Fantilli, Carlson and Michkov (assuming Montreal is comfortable taking him ) are gone...
There never was any official agreement between NHL and KHL other than players playing out their respective contracts before being able to switch leagues.Ok so I was wondering about Michkov's contract, since there is the war going on, I was under the impression that all the NHL-KHL agreements regarding contracts were null and void, was I mistaken?
In that sense, could it be possible for Michkov to play in the NHL next season or i two years?
It haven't been what is used to be for a few years now. I mean, Wideman was the #1 dmen there before MB signed him...Michkov is gonna look so out of place in the KHL. The corpse of Radulov is like 4th in scoring and Dmitri Jaskin is first.
