2023 NHL Entry Draft

I’m just amused how Bedard went from bulletproof generational guy a year ago, to Swiss cheese…
Thats the problem. Its too early to call kids future generational players, it puts alot of unecessary pressure on their shoulders and then people see them like gods with no flaw. Not sure it helped Wright last year, when everybody tell you that you are the next big thing, you end up believing it and reject any criticism. I think constructive criticisms are more useful than labeling 15-16 yrs old kids as generation or franchise players, they still have alot to prove and accomplish before draft day and after draft day to become one.

The thing is unlike Wright, Bedard has done nothing to lose that spot. The one guy who can challenge him won’t come to America until his early twenties if at all. Pretty big gap between him and Dvorsky.

Im not sure I agree with that last part, Michkov cracked SKA, a powerhouse in the KHL and produced some pts. KHL is a very very tough league to crack for young players and Michkov did it with one of the top teams over there. To me Michkov is more strongly built and wins more puck battles than Bedard, he is also faster and more complete. Not saying he will end up better than Bedard in their prime, just that he is ahead of him in his development right now.
Have you watched Michkov play a lot?

From my viewings Michkov is absolutely NOT faster than Bedard. As for being stronger who knows but again it didn’t seem that way when I watched him play. That isn’t even a bad thing since he has room to grow.

Love the way Michkov plays. Feel like him and Bedard are closer than lot suggesting and will be equally thrilled with either be it 1 or 2.

Bedard is a Barzal 2.0 with Matthews shot and Michkov is a Kaprizov 2.0.

They’re both amazing but I’m absolutely in love with how Michkov control the puck behind the net and down the zone. I’m taking him before Bedard.

Is Bedard a center or a winger?

He's listed as a center but is he really a center?

Though I prefer Michkov overall, there's no doubt about it..He's a winger. And he's Russian. Starts with two strikes.

Im suprised with how many people prefer Michkov to Bedard. A lot of the concerns with Bedard are mirrored with Michkov but even to a greater extent. Size, strenght and skating. I know I will get shredded but he kinda reminds me of a better Joshua Roy.
I would go with Bedard everyday of the week.

People forger but Crosby/McDavid also had good but not amazing WJC at the same age.

They do, he's pretty raw - he will rise like Lekki did.
He played 35 games in the SHL last year, he isnt more raw than a kid like Fantilli.

I see him in the same tier as Fantilli and Yager TBH. I kinda fell love with what I saw from him so far.

Bedard
Michov
-
Fantilli
Carlsson
Yager
-
Let's see how his season pans out.

Lots of hockey to be played.. That's for sure.
I like your early list I must say.

Defensively I think so, he was pretty protected - this is fine. Don't think there is a huge gap or anything like that.

He'll probably get there, don't think he's there before seeing the first sample of 15-20 games/WJC. I'm projecting he will be there, hard to know in August.

Just finished to watch the SWE CZE game (4 nations) and Leo Carlson was outstanding, was noticeable every shifts in a right way and ended up 1+1. I just love how he plays, tremendously talended, but also pretty smart, effective all over the ice, skates very well for a big guy and uses his size pretty well to protect the puck and keep the play alive. He is easily a top 4 prospect for me entering this draft year and possibly a serious challenger for the #1 spot IMO.

Edit: Played the wing on a line centered by Bystedt, was also playing the wing at the Hlinka, but I do think he has the smarts to be a center, it will be interesting to see the position he plays in the SHL this year.

Carlsson‘s the one guy that blew me away when I first saw him. Michkov and Bedard’s reputation preceded them. Outside of draft circles, Carlsson’s name is nowhere.

I need to get much more viewings to get a good idea what these guys are about. Maybe I just saw his good games, but in my very limited viewership, he looked more interesting than Fantilli and YAger.

He's more of a center than Bystedt. Would guess it was an age thing.

Seems about right…..Carlsson a little low but everything subject to change as the season rolls

Dvorsky for the Habs

That woukd be one hell of a line

Slaf-Dvorsky-Mesar

The Slovak Attack!!

I'd be taking Carlsson or Sale as of right now.

I'd be flabbergasted if they didn't like him.

Carlsson and Yager seem like the guys they'd be highest on.
Outside the top 3, I agree

Bedard
Fantilli
Michkov
Carlsson
Yager
Dvorsky
Benson

f*** eh…..you can’t screw up this draft in the top 7, even further down the list

I'd be taking Carlsson or Sale as of right now.
At 5….if he’s there, based on what we know today….. 100%

From my viewings, Dvorsky isnt in the same league as Carlsson in term of talent. Carlson has elite hands and playmaking while his shooting skills looks pretty legit as well. Dvorsky isnt that talended and looks slower.

I'm not gonna hold this WJC against Dvorsky and since Carlsson didn't play either, it's not a fair judgement call.

Dvorsky probably has more of an inside game right now but Carlsson's ceiling, IMO, is higher than Fantilli's but Fantilli is a lot more translatable now so the floor is a lot higher there with a still very high ceiling.

I guess the next WJC will give us a clearer picture, but that Carlson kid is a special talent, Im not seeing that in Dvorsky.
