Michkov will come to NA and we absolutely have to draft him if is there at 5th overall. Can’t believe we are arguing this
Not following the news are we? This is a different set of circumstances. It’s not really comparable to anything other than the Cold War when, lo and behold, no Soviets played in NA.Why? Based on what, exactly?
Its absolutely arguable. Russia-Ukraine is the proxy wars of Russia and the West and those relations are all but getting better, we are sitting on canon powder. I do think it is very possible that Michkov may never come to America and it could even be by force.Michkov will come to NA and we absolutely have to draft him if is there at 5th overall. Yeah Reinbacher is getting underrated because people are absolutely all in on the forward talent in this draft. Plus no one watches the Swiss league regularly. In my limited viewings, I saw a player with a lot of potential. Being his team’s best defenceman at 17/18 in a legit men’s league is nothing to scoff at.Michkov is a unanimous #2 if its not of the russian risk. He is ranked lower simply because of the risk. We all know his on ice greatness.
Also, Reinbacher hype don't need to stop. I believe he would be right up there with Nemec and Jiricek if they were on the same draft year. He is f***ing good.

There is no guarentee that Michkov will come over when his contract ends, its easy for fans to say hey pick the elite talent no matter what, just like it was easy for the fans to say draft the former exeptional status 15 yrs old who didnt deliever in his draft year, but when it comes to make the actual decisions, there is a risk factor to deal with and you just cant afford to go wrong. What if we draft Michkov and when his contract ends, the geopolitical situation is even worst? Did you miss what happened to Fedotov? There is no limit at what this regime can do, if they want to keep Michkov and their next big stars in Russia, Ive no doubt they will use all their stratagems to get their way. The real question is, can we afford to miss on a potential #1 RHD for a potential Russian star player who might never come over? Businessmen will answer you an easy no.Kid says he wants to come over after his contract is done.
Unless you are privy to other informations, you draft him.

Sooooo how did players like Kuzmenko, Marchenko, etc. come over to North America this year if the restrictions are so strict?
Again, if this is such a high risk, you should be able to provide examples.
Economic and politicals relations between the West and Russia are rapidly degrading and Russia is rapidly turning toward the Eastern part of the world. We don't know how the situation evolves and it is all speculation right now but it is not out of the question that Russians might eventually be forbidden to be in Europe and/or America.Sooooo how did players like Kuzmenko, Marchenko, etc. come over to North America this year if the restrictions are so strict?

Read the story about getting Kaprizov back, Romanov coming back wasn't easy, and Fedotov got blocked.
Things could get worse than that in 3 years.
Looks like a good 2-way center with some skills and offensive upside, has alot of room to fill his 6'3 frame. The highest I saw him ranked is 17th OV by recrutes who seem really high on him. You can find some nice game play breakdowns on youtube.David Edstrom - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Nice. Just looking at stats he seems very intriguing and worth of "high" pick. Yeah I agree, kid looks really good in those videos, he is relentless on pucks, battles hard, good skater, there is alot to like, definitely a kid I would target with another 1st or early 2nd.Nice. Just looking at stats he seems very intriguing and worth of "high" pick. Late 1st, early second
Hopefully we get another 1st, draft Bjarnason and end up with Edstrom with our early 2nd. Could turn out to be an epic draft.A lot like Backlund. Like him in round 2 but still gonna prefer a goalie.
I would be more worried he wouldn’t want to come over then him being not allowed to come over. You don't know if he will be allowed. You cannot make a definitive statement here when a dictator is senselessly slaughtering people and distancing itself from the west.
There's a chance he becomes this generations Weber. If our scouts think that and take him over Michkov, I'd get it.
Lots of speculations...Economic and politicals relations between the West and Russia are rapidly degrading and Russia is rapidly turning toward the Eastern part of the world. Russia war is not going according to plan right now and we don't know if and how they might bring their war to another stage. There is a lot of variable in play right now and we are sitting on canon powder.
Restrictions are just starting. How are the Russians doing in international competitions? Oh that’s right, they aren’t allowed to be involved anymore. It’s one step at a time. We know for sure he isn’t coming for two years. How much more can the situation degenerate in that timeframe? A lot.Sooooo how did players like Kuzmenko, Marchenko, etc. come over to North America this year if the restrictions are so strict?
