The Big10 has an average age of 6'1 and 195 lbs and an average age of 22.1, it's not like he's playing against some random kids. I think that if you're too much for the NCAA, you're going to transition very well to any pro league. At that rank, it's make it or break it. If we ever get a #2 pick, we have to make sure to pick the right player. Sometimes I watch Fantilli and I wonder if he's just physically just too much for the NCAA but does he possess the IQ to translate his offense and talent to the NHL. Carlsson, I just want to see a more dynamic player. Does Carlsson have the same or higher ceiling than Kirby Dach? We need an explosive player, that's why I think Fantilli might get the edge over Carlsson for me at this point, but they both are tremendous prospects with insane potential. But I'm a Michkov fan hahaha
Carlsson is very dynamic to me though, he moves the box and he pushes player around with his puck handling. I don't know how you'd want him to be more dynamic. He's maybe not 100% effective off the rush, mainly because I think he likes to slow the game, challenge defenders, install the cycle and just use his tremendous passing instead of his very good shot but to me he's as dynamic as most stars in the NHL. Unless of course were talking Bedard/McDavid/Mackinnon, then sure.
It's true that Carlsson is having a very good season but this argument flies out the window when Fantili is potentially having the best NCAA season ever for an undrafted u19 prospect.Carlsson is having one of the best seasons ever for a draft eligible prospect in the SHL. My comparison remains a Barkov like player. Fantilli's passing and shooting selections at times makes me cringe, he has some fantastic tools, but personally I prefer Carlsson's composure.
Neither players are comparables. I wouldn't draft Reinbacher ahead of Michkov though.Drafting Reinbacher before Michkov would be like drafting Brett Pesce before Panarin.
Amen but this is a sport and the sport is hockey. Don't expect much from the minds behind this. Actually, expect the worst. There’s a huge difference between excluding Russian teams and organizations in which they’re there to specifically represent their nation, and excluding a Russian person in a situation in which they represent only themselves.
One of these things sends a political message, the other is discrimination.
