There's an argument that can be made for the best CHL season ever, at the very least. You would have to do a lot of era adjustment though, because guys like Lemieux and Ferraro had 120+ goal seasons playing in the early 80's with obviously very different goaltending/defensive systems.

With 63 goals in 52 games Bedard is blowing Connor McDavid's numbers out of the water. McDavid is considered the best player in game today and up there with Crosby, Mario or Lafleur. Just a slight notch before the Orr or Gretzky.

Bedard also putting up those numbers on a weak team. While McDavid was on a good Erie team.

Will Bedard be mentioned in same breath as Orr or Gretzky? Will he one day surpass them?
Lafleur is not up there with Crosby and Mario. Good grief.

Already has. I heard today that the Hall of Fame has decided to make a special exception and not only are they going to induct him [Bedard] before he retires, but before he plays his first game. The league has also decided to retire his number league-wide, only problem is that he would be required to choose a different number and then they would have to retire that one as well and so on until there are no numbers left, so he is going to be the first player ever to use the infinity symbol which is fitting because that will match his career point total.

Can you produce an executive summary of this hypothesis, please?

Would you guys pass on Leonard, Barlow or Moore if Michkov was still available ? I don't think i would.
Yes. Michkov is in another stratosphere. I don't care about his contract. If there's a chance to get this kind of player for free, you do it.

I really like Barlow and Leonard, but not ever ahead of Mich.
Not before Benson either.

I can't believe how many people don't see this our forwards have been for the past 30 years and remain to this day anemic
Well I think there's an assumption that they'll be able to get Dubois, they believe in Suzuki, Caufield and Dach as Top 6 forwards, that's 4, then Slaf, Roy, and Farrel are good bets as well to become Middle 6 at very least. Then couple with the draft being forward heavy through too 16 if they we're too pick him they probably think that reinbacher is equal to the forwards available and > then the next available defenseman in a more significant way then the forwards available with the FLA pick (assuming we don't use for Dubois)

Example
Reinbacher
Next D -> is sandin pellaka who falls in the florida range

Where if it was Bensen or Smith
the next forward in the 12-16 range is Cristall, Sale, Danielson or Dvorsky.

Not saying I agree with the strategy, just that I could see this being how there thinking about there board

Roy is a stretch to be a lock for middle 6 imo and I personally dont like drafting based on the idea that maybe we get Dubois I'll believe we get him when he steps on the ice for his first game as a Hab

I like a lot of the goalies in this draft but none of them are really worth top 20 picks.

Fowler has his game back and might fly under the radar and be grabbable with our 2nd round pick.
Most goalies aren't.

Stanley cup winners the past 20 years and there's Fleury and Vasilevskiy as the only ones drafted in the 1st round.

Going back to 1980 Broduer, Fuhr, Ward and the previous 2 are the only ones that won a cup and were first round picks. I think, I just looked at the teams and "remembered" what goalies were in net.

You can ho even further as Billy Smith and Bernie Parent weren't 1st round picks either.

In short, it's (almost) a waste to draft a goalie in the first round.

It seems it's better to build up in front and try and get a decent goalie in the late 2nd, or later rounds.

So, if with the Habs 2nd thet shouldn't even really look at a goalie.

Dont disagree, until you have dubois dont make the gamble, but they may feel like they have him in there back pocket once seasons over

Other side too is the scouts actually think he's just the best player Guess will see

If the choice is a top 4 RHD and a 20-25 goal scorer like Barlow, I'm taking the D man.

So if we don't get top 6, then yeah Reinbacher becomes a more attractive option.
Know your way more versed in the prospects then I am but what if the scouts just truly believe the 5/6 forwards aren't that special and just prefer the RHD?

I'd be very skeptical of that conclusion and hope they prove me wrong, that's all we can really do.

I don’t agree.

A guy like Dvorsky, if he pans out, will be much more useful on this team then Reinbacher. I take pretty much all top 10 forwards in front of Reinbacher.

I get the feeling he’s overrated because he’s the best dman in a top heavy forwards draft. He’s good but not top 10 lol.

I find Dvorsky getting overrated.. I don't see how a support top 6 forward is better than a strong RHD who can provide offense from the back end.

That’s because you think he’s a support top 6. I don’t see that.

I don't see anything from him this year that tells me he's anything more than a shooting threat. I've been disappointed with the progress of his handling, exit/entries, and playmaking game.

He’s a 17 years old center playing against men while getting low icetime.

When he’s playing against players of his age, he just flat out dominate.

Last nights game Bjarnason - 5 goals on 19 shots, yanked after 2 periods. Is that what sealed the deal for you?

I like him, btw, but he has a long runway to the NHL.
2 ping pong type of goals where he couldnt do anything, 1 where the player crashed on him and should have been disallowed and 1 breakaway against Bedard who sniped it near the post. Regina totally outplayed Brandon that game, not much Bjarnason could do. Ive been following Brandon lately and that Bjarnason kid has everything, perfect size for modern goaltending, good technically, good athleticims, good gloves work, stands tall in the net, Im no goaltenders expert, but the kid is really good and flashes alot of upside.
