No Jayden Perron.

What are the opinions here about Perron? I would like him if he was available with our 2nd rd pick. Although he is another smallish winger.
Part of a collection of smaller players I have faith in this year, Perron is realistically a boom or bust type: either he ends up being a top player in Europe or a legitimate top-six playmaker. I have a first round grade on him so he'd be a great target if the Habs could nab him in the second round.

Would you guys pass on Leonard, Barlow or Moore if Michkov was still available ? I don't think i would.
In a scenario where Michkov somehow never makes it over to North America (I think he does), the only player I could see being a missed opportunity is Moore, if only because he seems like a surefire useful player to have regardless of roster construction or position allotted. He's a rare case where I'm okay taking him top ten due to his strengths, despite valid questions regarding his upside.

But I would take Michkov for sure today and not even blink. If the goal is to ice a contender and Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson are gone, you have to take Michkov because the scenario where he ends up in North America AND is a superstar is likelier than the players remaining after him being a star even.

1- Bedard
2- Fantilli
3- Carlsson
4- Michkov
5- Benson
6- Reinbacher

That’s my top 5. I am not as sold on Smith as others and have him in the next tier with Reinbacher. I’d pick him #6. RHD with high upside and size are so hard to acquire. You pretty much have to draft them. With Florida’s pick there will still be a really good forward left to select.

Sounds like a future star - for AC Milan.

Not familiar with Danielson. He’s in his 3rd WHL season.

What separates him from Calum Ritchie, IYO?
Danielson is one of the few prospects I dont have a great grasp of inside my top 20. He is a guy that was thought of as a run of the mill, typical 3rd line prospect a Poehling or a Mcloed, if you will. Every time I saw him in his D-2 or d-1, thats what he made me think too. Now though? He had a meteoric rise in his offensive catalyst abilities. Its not just his tools getting better, hes not just outskating people, he genuinely attacks angles, moves the box and cuts inside.

He is a dangerous player, both his shooting and passing skill are high-end. He does "lack" creativity in his playmaking, but his individual play doesnt, I feel like. He reminds me a lot of Robert Thomas, but with better skating/shooting.

I would add that he is great in transition, very good top speed and puckhandling. He is a puck possession center, protects the puck and distributes it well. His passing/playmaking are great, his shot above average, but his release not high end as far as Im concerned, at least not from what Ive seen yet. A smart 200 ft. center who wins most of his puck battles, I really like the upside, possibly a great 2A in the making.

With 63 goals in 52 games Bedard is blowing Connor McDavid's numbers out of the water. McDavid is considered the best player in game today and up there with Crosby, Mario or Lafleur. Just a slight notch before the Orr or Gretzky.

Bedard also putting up those numbers on a weak team. While McDavid was on a good Erie team.

Will Bedard be mentioned in same breath as Orr or Gretzky? Will he one day surpass them?

Already has. I heard today that the Hall of Fame has decided to make a special exception and not only are they going to induct him before he retires, but before he plays his first game. The league has also decided to retire his number league-wide, only problem is that he would be required to choose a different number and then they would have to retire that one as well and so on until there are no numbers left, so he is going to be the first player ever to use the infinity symbol which is fitting because that will match his career point total.

I have a hard time envisioning Bedard being as effective as McDavid in the NHL, or at least prime McDavid we are currently seeing.

i don’t think the gap is massive, though.

They could be onto something

Good chance our picks are Dvorsky and Honzek. Taking a page out of Carolina's book with all the Finn's. Or Minnesota with all the Swedes. Use familiarity and culture, language as an advantage. Dressing room chemistry. Build around Slaf. It does explain the Mesar pick.

Bedard could only be greatest of all time if he's drafted by the Habs. If not, he'll be just another jabroni.
Nobody ever say that.

Comparing Bedard at 18, to Crosby or McDavid at 18? Bedard has better numbers. On a bad team he is also. McDavid was surrounded with Debrinkat and Strome.

Picking low ceiling players because of nationality is one of the worst things you could ever do why handicap yourself unnecessarily like that just dumb.

Yes. I’d rather we go full swing than bunt.

This part is interesting cause Hutson was a full swing and we didn't take him with either of the Flames 1st or our 2nd. Mesar and Beck were taken first.

Mesar? Full swing type? I would assume so

Beck? Safe base pick via Poehling type right? Easy to trash Poehling today but I would say both Poehling and Beck are similar strategy picks.
