You could get the same with Leonard and have a lot more runway to grow and develop. That's why I am steering away from Barlow.

Sale is also a better offensive option while not being small.

Honestly, I'd prefer to take Reinbacher at 7 and grab Wood with the Florida pick. He doesn't have Barlow's skating but everything else in his game offensively is a tier above Barlow.
Sale is one I'm very curious about and I think he might be a riser in an eventual re-draft. Lacking consistency right now but I think he's being underrated.

Apparently didnt have a very good 4 nations. We will have a better idea after the U18, skills are there, but softness too, unless it has changed since the WJC.

Ive been reading an article (under paywall) that confirms that scouts are not very pleased with Smith's defensive, game away from the puck and that if he doesnt correct that or improve that at some extent, it might hurt his draft stock, possibly even more than Shane Wright last year. Smith positioning as a center is questionable at times, you will see him cheat at the opposing blueline when his team is not in full control of the puck as an exemple, kid corsi isnt very good either. I agree with everyone that he is one of the most talented players in the draft, but that article confirms my own take on the player, kid comes with some risks at that point.

Yeah, he reminds me of J.T. Miller a bit. Talented offensive player, but can disconnect the controller at times defensively, or is just overly passive defensively. Can have a low motor. It can be frustrating. It's why I ranked Moore ahead of Smith beginning of the season.

Miller is still ppg.

Moore looks more like Larkin.

Miller might get 90 pts, but give away goals defensively.

Larkin gets 70 pts, but plays a far more complete game.

That's the choice between Smith & Moore.

Can’t help but read this last part with Sean Connery’s voice in my head from the Untouchables

Exactly the way I see it, Smith will probably put more pts on the board if he reaches his celling, while Moore will offer a more complete game. I think Moore has the higher floor, Smith the highest celling.

He was awful.

Completely disinterested in competing anywhere on the ice. Lotta standing around hoping someone does the work for him and spoon feeds him the puck. Only looked engaged a bit on the PP. Real case of Drouin-itis.

On top of that he's super scrawny (6'1 160) and weak even compared to his own age group, which is always a red flag for me. I've cooled a lot on him.

That sucks, with the tools he has, thats a waste.

I don't see him as a center and that's fine since we have Suzuki and Dach with Beck coming. He will look a lot better on the wing and the motor and defensive questions are mitigated. Good for us if he falls a few slots.

I would totally welcome him with the Florida pick. I think most of his flaws can be corrected, especially once he gets stronger, more powerful, it will help him alot on 200 ft.

I think Vancouver with a new coach will pass us, Im not sure they have much to sell anymore while we have a alot, cheriff is injured, tough schedule ahead, Im still optimistic our pick will be around 6-7 OV, at that spot Im hoping for Reinbacher, if he is off board, a kid like Smith is a legit option, so is Moore, Leonard, Dvorsky IMO.

Depending on where the Florida pick is, I'm more than willing to take Reinbacher at 7-9.. because I feel like there's a good chance you can get Cristall, Wood or Yager there. Best of both worlds that way.

And you almost have it in order for me

Smith
Reinbacher
Leonard
Moore
Dvorsky

Every kid on the team cheats high, even your very own Moore. The anticipation is a gameplan tactic. You can see this very well with Perrault who does it really well.

None of the USDP kids are that impressive if Im honest. Feels like Nazar has better tools than all of them. Leonard is the one I want more because he has a unique game.

How is Moore gonna score those 70 points? He barely has a shot and hes not an elite playmaker.

He is a very smart player and doesn't rely solely on his skating, but when the skating advantage goes away, what tool will allow him to score all those points?

The main difference between Drouin and Sale is the shot. Drouin never really had one and Sale has a laser. Also Sale doesnt suffer from the "Deke through everyone with my head down" syndrome.

What are you talking about man? Moore is strongly skilled at both passing & shooting. You don't need to be an elite shooter to score goals. Moore is really good at changing the angle of his release, and he has a quick wrister and a nasty one-timer.

If Danault can score 20 goals in the NHL - the epitome of a shit shooter than Moore can as well.
