This may sound like a crazy hot take, but the idea of Adam Fantilli in our lineup is for some reason more enticing than Bedard. I’m not saying Fantilli > Bedard. If we get 1st overall, it’s Bedard all day long but our lineup would look so good with Fantilli. Same with Bedard but we already have a lot of smallish players. I get…trade some of those players to make room for Bedard. Anyways just giving Fantilli is due. He’s an unreal prospect and we could use a 6 foot 2 first line centre

Dach - Suzuki - Caufield
Slafkovsky - Fantilli - Roy/Farrell/Mesar

That’s pretty solid!!!!

Again, Bedard > Fantilli but Fantilli would be niiiiiice too!
Ill take Bedard, the far superior player, thanks.

Bedard isnt even small, hes stocky as hell. Hes basically Crosby sized.

Michkovs going to be a Shark im pretty sure. I have the feeling.

some of you might call me crazy today but if we pick outside the top 5 i would like the Habs to draft Reinbacher i think hes gonna be such a good player and we're weak on the right

I think RD is the most difficult position to fill after center
Were already on that train in this thread. I have Reinbacher solidly at #5 and at least two other posters have him inside the top 6.

I don't care about his position personally, I think he's genuinely the 5th best prospect in the draft.

Reinbacher becomes one of the most likely options because we'll have played ourselves out of the ability to pick a projectable top line talent up front. Not to say there won't be others who grow into that ability, but we can only make projections on the data we have now.

I'd take Reinbacher in the 5-8 range. Maybe 6-8. I think Smith will be very good

I meant you must have been to your fifth Guinness pint (quote), to think of picking Reinbacher 6th or 7th. But hey, who am I to judge. Personnally I think it's a little premature, we could wait to the Florida pick, but I'm no scout.

He will be gone by then.

He will be gone before the Florida pick. It's very, very rare to see a draft go into the teens before a defenseman goes. Even last year, we saw Korchinski go WELL ahead of where people thought he'd be available.

If you like Reinbacher and you think he's the best pick at the spot, you take him.

For me that conversation starts when Smith and Benson are off the board. Then you're comparing Reinbacher to Yager, Sale, Dvorsky, Leonard, Moore, and Cristall.

I'm more of a Dunkel guy myself. But I expect Reinbacher off the board before 10 so if our pick is 6+ I'd take him there.

Totally agree about Dunkels. Drank a lot those while living in Leipzig from 2006 to 2008, back when I was GermanyMontrealExpat.

I think Reinbacher is an ill advised reach that early as he is more of a 15-20 range imo. I absolutely do not agree with picking by need unless the need separates to prospects of equal value. Reinbacher looks like a Justin Barron (+) type prospect to me which is ok but I certainly would not pass up any of the top 10 forward prospects in this draft for him. If he is around for the Florida pick then that is where we consider taking him, otherwise it is a pickthat may not age well as a top ten selection. That being said, I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if we selected him between 8-10 but it would be with some serious risk.

It's not just a draft by need thing imo. I think Reinbacher will be a top pairing dman in the NHL. I'm getting the same Vibes I had about Seider and I'm guessing something similar will happen. He'll go top 10. People will be surprised at the time and a couple years later everyone will be like damn that gm was right.

I think the fact that he plays in a lesser known league is why he's not higher in the rankings already. He's probably higher on NHL scout list that scout that league more.

It's going to be interesting where he is on Bob's pre-draft rankings. He was at 20 for the first half.
