He gets that information closer to the combine, though.

I'll be shocked if Daniil But or Honzek are anywhere near the top 10 of Bob's list.
Mark and his team are in rinks all winter talking to scouts unlike many internet scouts. The best part of his guide are the countless quotes from NHL scouts for each player with dates attached. There were talks about Slaf making a move towards #1 among many in the private/NHL scouting community long before the Olympics.

Mark will change his rankings on But, Simashev, Honzek if they don't warrant those spots after future viewings. He had Geekie high most of last year but then dropped him and had detailed rationale for it. He had Knies way higher than the other lists two years ago.

Well Bob's list came out and lo and behold.. those players were not anywhere near the top 10.

Mark gets some things right. RLR gets some things right. etc. etc.

Bob's list is still the most accurate and true to the NHL draft.. and that list had Slafkovsky at 1. The talk about Wright not going 1 started in December, the challenger was Cooley.. then Slafkovsky emerged.. and we had two challengers for #1 that the Habs themselves admitted they debated over.

Mark wasn't the only one who knew that was happening, just people didn't want to listen.

I read Bob's mid-season draft rankings and he has Michkov at 4 but teams could possibly stay away because of his contract status in the KHL. Here's the question, how difficult is it for a player to have his contract terminated or is it even possible? Is retirement an option? Both parties get to walk away from obligation and financial payment. Forgive me for this question but I was just wondering if someone could shed some light on this.

How competitive is the LCH top prospects game? Is it like an all-star game or can we take some takeaways from it? I'm wondering if I should watch it,

It’s a showcase not an all star games. There will be a lot of scouts presents and the prospects will do whatever they can so the scouts remember there names. That being said, you see a lot of individual plays

It varies in competitiveness but it can absolutely be a springboard to change narratives. Mid-round prospects in particular, those playing in less ideal situations as well, can make an impact on their draft worth with this game.

Players like Bedard might as well sleepwalk through it, his performance won't impact anything.

Id be really f***ing sad if the Habs passed on Smith for Reinbacher and Im, allegedly, the second biggest ReinBACHstan in this thread.
But it’s also passing on Benson, Barlow or Moore, Sale or Dvorsky. That’s a lot of talent to pass up on. You have to think the Habs are going to be really into at least 1 of them.

Its not even that much an issue, would Slafkovsky be worth less if he came in at 20 rather than this year? Caufield came in at 21. Suzuki at 20.

The contract really is a non-issue, well not actually because Michkov is a special player and could have an impact next year, but as a +2 OA player? Who cares.

Someone like Dragicevic is capable of moving +/- 10 spots depending on how he does. If he’s randomly moving all over the ice and not playing D at all, it’s an easy -10 for him in terms of draft position. If he shows he totally gets D positioning and yet can be useful offensively he can make a big jump upwards.

I felt like Noah Warren’s performance last year boosted his stock for the draft. He looked really good in that game

Easily pass those forwards (except maybe Benson whom I hear is exceptional, can‘t judge myself except a few highlights) for Reinbacher or ASP.

If I’m not mistaken, he’d have to buy himself out and I don’t think his NHL team can help him in that regard.

What’s working for him is the money he can make right away in the NHL. The bonus structure for top rookies is decent and attainable for a talent like him. He’d also be a superstar with marketing potential. I don’t think it will be difficult to get him to come over after his two extra KHL years.

If our picks were 9 & 13, I might go along with that but if we’re picking 5 or 6 and 13, I’m not interested in that much of a reach. Statistically, it fails much more often then it works to reach that far.

Am I going bonkers? There's something wrong with the first set of stats. Overall, the 30M forward skate with puck is faster than the 30M forward skate. Aren't players slower skating with the puck on their sticks?
Traditionally, yes, you skate faster without the puck. But it really depends on the drill. If you're just skating in a straight line and pushing the puck forward with your stick, it doesn't really slow you down. Also, we're talking about fractions of seconds here. Have to take reaction time into account

Barlow isn't just physically dominating players. He's also got speed and a good shot. Has the tools to be a really good power forward

I am not sure this is true. Top of my head Seider was a reach, Chabot and Werenski too. If you like a player go for it ! ;)

Sometimes it works but statistically speaking, it’s better to take the player who’s rated higher draft-wise.

It’s been analyzed by people with nothing better to do with their time and that’s their opinion. I don’t have the articles to show you but that’s how it goes.

Stevie Y has also struck out big time too by reaching for players too early.

Wasn't the top prospect game supposed to be today? Can someone tell me when it is . I've been looking forward to it but can't find any info. Thanks in advance.

Here is my guess at HuGo top-10

1. Bedard
2. Fantilli
3. Carlsson
4. Michkov
5. Smith
6. Yager
7. Dvorsky
8. Sale
9. Moore
10. Reinbacher

I think Michkov is on no draft so you can ignore him. I think Wood and ASP make the top 10 given the fact they love size and need a puck moving RD. Could see Perreault being close too
