Hes a defensively responsible guy with a good toolbox. Its not a matter of peaking early at all to me, its a matter of projections. People thought hed take a big step into a PPG defender but he didn't, thats fine, not all good prospects have to be top 5 worthy players.

He still defends very well, he still holds the line up well, he still has a good shot, hes still a decent skater and he's got a solid build. He's a project, you pick him and hope he sticks together enough tools to be a 2nd pair D that can do it all. Lets not forget the usual time-table for defenders was 22-23, not 19-20 like weve been seeing in the past few years. One thing Ive noticed is that he tilts heavily on the defensive side this year, I don't know why he does it, if its coached, if its his decision, but he rarely every plays an aggressive game and he rarely pushes the pace. Of course, he's not a top 30 prospect for me, but he's still a good 2nd round bet.

Its very weird lately with all the super productive kids, a lot of good players that don't produce as much get lost in the shuffle because of it. It used to be that production like Cristall and Benson came every three or five years, now theres 5 of them in the WHL. Same can be said all over. Stats watching doesn't help anyone.
That summary doesn't exude insane skillset to me. Everything about him is mediocre in my opinion and I don't think his toolset projects well at the next level. He's not a great puck distributor. He has a decent shot as you mentioned but it doesn't matter in today's NHL if you don't have the elusiveness to open up lanes. I'd rather take another stab at a Lane Hutson type or another Engstrom.

I just didn't see the things that will make him produce points in the NHL. A real lack of deception and ability to move the defenders off their marks, especially on the PP. I didn't see any high end vision and his shot really didn't look menacing or a threat he was using.

He looks more like a two-way defender that's good not great on both sides of the puck. I'd actually prefer Dragicevic since I know the offense will translate if he can improve his defensive game or Reinbacher cause the defensive game is there if the offense doesn't grow and Reinbacher would fit really well with Hutson.
Yeah, I think I'd rather Reinbacher too. Dragicevic, if his defensive game was his only problem, maybe. But his skating pretty meh so I'm not really sure about taking him before the 20s. Could change in the coming months of course.

As for ASP, could his lack of deception and risk taking be him wanting to play risk free in a high level of competition? As anyone here seen him in SHL or J20? I'd be curious to see if the way he approached the game was different there.

You mean physically stronger at 16 vs the OHL? The rookie of the year?
You're supporting my case. His trajectory has stalled. I'm all about where a player will be in 5 years.

Why do you think he's down to #39 on Bobby Mac's list? That's a recent poll of NHL scouts. He was 29 for North America on Central Scouting and he'll be further down when their final rankings are out.

We should be thinking 5 years down the road. Not what he did when he was physically stronger than his peers. He may have plateaued. I just don't see anything about him that excites me other than he competes.
Cameron Allen is 5"11. He's not some physical specimen using his physical attributes to dominate his peers...

He's a D...it's like you never scouted any D in your life.

I don't care what the lists are saying, never did, never will.

His peers are his age group in terms of his birth year. He's been known for several years among that age group as being more physically developed than most.

Okey dokey. Remain a cheerleader for a player with skill limitations performing poorly as his draft stock nose dives.

To be fair he didnt really outskate Formenton as he was gliding.

Nice play though.
I'm biased and still think Price is better than Allen.
Theyre both similar level of prospects, one you should be happy to get in the 30-50 range.
I know it's a short clip, but his skating looks really good here. I haven't seen much of him, but I had thought his skating wasn't great, maybe I was wrong on that
His skatings a1.

Would you be satisfied if we drafted that whole line first round? Good chance we acquire another first
Tough question, I dont think so, Im trending more and more toward Reinbacher with the Habs pick, Smith is very talented, but his lack of strength/power and foot speed worry me a bit, Ill try to watch most of their games from now. My favorite player on that USNDTP squad is Oliver Moore, if we can end up with Reinbacher + Moore with the Florida pick I'll be pretty happy. If we acquire a late 1st at the deadline, I like some players better than Perreault.

Good comeback. I like Smith more than Moore but limited viewing. You probably right. If we even up with Reinbacher, Moore, Musty? Imagine many Habs fans be happy

Id be really f***ing sad if the Habs passed on Smith for Reinbacher and Im, allegedly, the second biggest ReinBACHstan in this thread.

I think Sandin Pelikka may be underrated. Could see him and Reinbacher making the top 10, just because Ds are so important.

I don‘t follow NA Junior hockey that much but Morin s stats make him an intriguing case from far away, what s wrong with him ?

This Perreault guy seems like a Caufield 2.0, does he also drop to 15 even 20 ?
